Like a boat entering the mouth of a crocodile, falling into the whirlpool of local waters before the task is completed. As it is said. Therefore, I, a sinful being overwhelmed by the power of ignorance, like a brightly polished crystal, in the merit-purified mind, manifest the image obtained through the generation stage ritual. Thus, the seven-branch offering and the mind-training methods related before and after are indeed of great significance. We are not born without cause, nor are we heretics who believe in being born from a lord, but have wandered in samsara since beginningless time, and in countless lifetimes, this life or other lives, we are overwhelmed by the power of ignorance, and are as ignorant as livestock. Because we do not understand karma and its fruits, we are accustomed to sinful deeds, both those prohibited by precepts and those that are naturally wrong, therefore, all the defilements that would obstruct the arising of the precious bodhicitta, like a refiner, are cleansed by the wise with cloth for the sake of the Dharma, or like polishing a fine crystal, all non-meritorious defilements are instantly purified, and in the pure mind of a well-transmitted and diligently practiced lineage, the image of the unsurpassed Bodhisattva vows obtained through symbolic rituals is manifested, thus the virtues of these methods are explained. Then, in order to show the necessity of generating faith in the field of merit as the beginning of the actual ritual: Those who fall into the abyss of hundreds of thousands of faults, patients severely afflicted by epidemics, do not breathe in the presence of ordinary doctors, but especially seek refuge in the श्रेष्ठ doctor. Therefore, if one falls into a deep and dangerous cliff like an abyss and is tormented by disease, even ordinary doctors who are proficient in the eight branches, Soma Rasala, etc., can remove their pain. But we are controlled by the five poisons of greed, hatred, ignorance, pride, and jealousy. In addition, the evil Mara of the desire realm has five arrows on his head, accompanied by a garland of lotus flowers, namely: making one arrogant, making one ignorant, making one completely ignorant,

It causes shaking and moving of the mind. By shooting its flower arrow at whichever of the five afflictions is most dominant, it causes it to burn intensely. Being controlled by it, one falls from liberation and higher rebirth, into the abyss of hundreds of thousands of faults. After falling, one will be afflicted by these types of epidemics, namely the four outflows, the four rivers, the four unions, the four appropriations, the three bonds, the nine fetters, the eighteen existential fetters, the ten entanglements, the six abodes of affliction, the six stains of affliction, the five obscurations, the five lower fetters, the five higher fetters, the ten grounds, the two unwholesome grounds, and the fifty-seven named foundations of minor matters for yogis. There are many secondary afflictions, but the main ones are one hundred and fifty-six as they are. From these fierce epidemics, even one anger can destroy all the people of Jambudvipa (the world), but ordinary medical treatments are powerless against it. Why is that? Because they cannot cure the causes of the four hundred and four diseases caused by wind, bile, phlegm, and combinations. Therefore, the supreme physician, the all-knowing one, removes the causes of bodily pain, and relying on the medicine of the holy Dharma, completely removes the pain of afflictions, so take refuge in him alone. He is the king of medicines, the best, the most excellent, and the most abundant, and the precious Bodhicitta, which is the antidote to the four hundred and four diseases of afflictions, will be easily obtained. This shows the power of generating devotion to the field of merit. Having generated devotion in this way, it is best to have a holy guru, but even if there is only an image, it is fine. Visualizing the field of merit is: For what kind of faith have you come here, O supreme teacher who cares for the realm of sentient beings, the sole great vehicle being, shining brightly in the midst of the sangha. This is the object of taking vows.
