It is unreasonable to dedicate merit to inferior results. As it says in the Madhyamakāvatāra: "Noble son, this root of virtue should only be dedicated to the Buddha-land, and should not be dedicated to the lands of Śrāvakas, Pratyekabuddhas, or others." Therefore, dedicating merit to all sentient beings, so that they may attain complete enlightenment, is like turning iron into gold, something that even the names of heretics and others have not heard of. Nāgārjuna said: "The great accumulation of merit, dedicated to all sentient beings, as the Victorious One has declared, has not been heard of in other scriptures." That is to say, the object of dedication is: as it says in the Avataṃsaka Sūtra: "All the virtues of sentient beings, those that have been done, will be done, and are being done." That is, all the virtues done by sentient beings, as well as one's own virtues done in the past, will be done in the future, and are being done in the present, all belong to the virtues of the three times. The purpose of dedication is: if one does not aim for all sentient beings to attain Buddhahood, one will fall into the Hinayana. As it says in the Madhyamakāvatāra: "This should be dedicated to all sentient beings, not dedicated for one's own attainment, otherwise one will fall into the lands of Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas." Furthermore, the object of dedication should not be clung to as a real illusion, but should be dedicated in a dreamlike and illusory way. As mentioned earlier: "Noble son, all dharmas are like dreams, like illusions, and virtues are also like dreams, like illusions, and should be dedicated in this way." The nature of dedication is: the intention to transform merit with the desire for enlightenment. As it says in the Mañjuśrīkṣetraguṇavyūha Sūtra: "All dharmas arise according to conditions, and abide at the peak of intention. Whatever aspiration is made, that kind of result will be obtained." The words that are in accordance with this can only be followed by the words of those who have realized the qualities of the noble path above the first bhūmi, and who have achieved the truth, otherwise no words can be achieved. Nowadays, Tibetans do not understand these things, and they blindly cling to those nonsensical words that are not even grammatically correct. So, if one knows the words of dedication, can one give

If I am not speaking nonsense, what is it? It is indeed nonsense, as it does not seem to be using language. Rather, it is guiding the words of the noble ones who have achieved truthful speech into the path of the patrons' prayers, and then the lamas and sangha resonate with it from their hearts, expressing the wish for its fulfillment. In this way, the one who can use language and resonate with it, achieving truthful speech, through skillful means and the power of the three strengths, their merit will become immeasurable. As it is said in the Bodhisattva Piṭaka: "Shariputra, a wise bodhisattva can turn a small gift into many, increasing it with the power of wisdom, expanding it with the power of wisdom, and making it immeasurable with the power of dedication." In short, the merit that is held by the three excellences is called the merit that corresponds to liberation. That is, at the time of application, it is held by the excellent bodhicitta that wishes to benefit sentient beings; at the time of the main practice, it is held by the excellent wisdom of non-objectification; and at the time of the subsequent practice, it is held by the excellent dedication that is like a dream or illusion. These three are the correct path to the excellent path of enlightenment. Furthermore, dedicating based on previously generated good causes is called dedication, and the prayer made for good causes that have not yet arisen is called aspiration. As the dedication of Vajradhvaja says, even the good roots that will be generated in the future can be dedicated. Therefore, if dedication and aspiration are distinguished solely by whether the good roots have already arisen, then this argument is untenable. In making aspirations, there are also two possibilities: whether or not it is related to the good roots of a good intention. The first possibility, that is, everything that is the essence of great compassion and loving-kindness, is the merit of great generosity. Therefore, Jayananda also said in the commentary on the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Aspiration and generosity are also complete dedication, and there is no aspiration that cannot be completely dedicated." Therefore, whether the good cause has already arisen or will arise later, dedicating based on a single, specific good root is called dedication. And whatever wish is expressed arbitrarily, whether out of good or bad intention, should be regarded as aspiration. If so, then can there be no dedication for non-objective merit? The Samkhya school, which believes that good and evil exist in nature...
