Everything is subdued, and all the demons are terrified and unhappy in their own places. Also, as it is said in the chapter of "Light Protector": "Light Protector, for example, when the halo of the moon is released, no one will ever worship the form of the stars. Light Protector, similarly, wise people also release the Bodhisattvas who have entered my teachings, and they will never worship the Shravakas. Light Protector, for example, one worships the crescent moon, but not the full moon. Light Protector, similarly, those who have faith in me should worship the Bodhisattvas, but not the Tathagatas. Why is that? Because the Tathagatas are born from the Bodhisattvas. All the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are also born from the Tathagatas." Moreover, considering such reasons, the perfect Buddha himself also promised to respect the Bodhisattvas. As it is said in the "Ratnarashi Sutra": "Kashyapa, what do you think? If a person's hands and feet are cut off, can he still live?" He replied: "Bhagavan, he can still live." The Bhagavan said: "If the heart is taken out, can he still live?" He replied: "Bhagavan, he cannot live." The Bhagavan said: "Kashyapa, the hands and feet are like Shariputra and Maudgalyayana. The heart is like the Bodhisattvas. Kashyapa, if a Bodhisattva enters a chariot and enjoys the five objects of desire, and there is no one else to drive that chariot, Kashyapa, that Bodhisattva's chariot can also be placed on the head of the Tathagata. Even if the elders Shariputra and Maudgalyayana remain in the three doors of liberation for a kalpa or more, the Tathagata will not strive to serve and attend to them." Thus it is said. Therefore, the benefits of generating the mind of Bodhicitta cannot be reached even by the edge of the sky, nor can they be contained in the ocean. Even if Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges were to speak for as many kalpas, they could not exhaust the accumulation of merit of its virtues. One should aspire to it wholeheartedly and continuously ride the chariot of joy born from the door of benefits day and night.

Who would not generate Bodhicitta in such a way? Why? Because for the immeasurable realms of sentient beings, each mind that wishes to benefit them generates a collection of merit equal to the sky, there is no doubt about this. As it is said in the Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son: 'Monks, the collection of qualities of the mind of enlightenment possessed of all-knowing wisdom, even if the Tathagata were to speak of it for as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges, it could not be fully expressed.' Why? Because when the Tathagata practiced the conduct of a Bodhisattva in the past, he never generated even a single mind that was not beneficial to all those sentient beings whom he gathered as sentient beings. The realm of sentient beings is immeasurable. As many as the realms of sentient beings, that many collections of merit are born from each generation of Bodhicitta when the Tathagata practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Why? Monks, the realm of sentient beings is inexhaustible. Just as the realm of sentient beings is inexhaustible, so too, when the Tathagata practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, an inexhaustible collection of merit is born from each generation of Bodhicitta.' Thus it is said. To show the preliminary preparations for accumulating the accumulations, as the poem says: Even the dwelling place that displays splendor and beauty, Sprinkled with saffron perfume, cleansing its face, Thinking only of the Rare and Supreme Ones in one's mind, Rejoicing and delighting in arranging offerings. The clean rooms of the temples of the three ancestral kings, and the places of practice blessed by the sublime seers, or the dwelling places secluded from sinful beings, should be thoroughly cleaned. This is called 'displaying splendor and beauty.' There, also, carefully anoint with saffron and fragrant perfumes, and the five essences, and scatter cool flowers. Like focusing on a cherished guest in one's mind, not for the sake of others' praise, nor out of arrogance, but exclaiming: Alas! The merit of serving the Rare and Supreme Ones, the excellent field, is so abundant! The root of virtue will not be wasted! Thinking in one's mind that one has obtained a great gain.
