Our practice of associating with the nature of emptiness, which is the essence of love and compassion, is the unerring path to omniscience, as stated in the Stages of Meditation by the venerable Nagarjuna: This dharma without essence arises entirely from conceptualization. Whatever is conceptualized is also emptiness. Thus, emptiness is liberation. As it is said. Thus, great compassion is the unerring cause of perfect Buddhahood, as stated in the sutras: Whoever has a head has life; whoever has compassion has bodhicitta; whoever has bodhicitta has a Buddha. As it is. Although this is so, compassion that is connected and unbroken with the discrimination of near and far, enemy and friend, is the very opposite of compassion. For those who easily generate compassion towards the object of equanimity, if they see those of unruly conduct experiencing manifest suffering, they regard them as not being objects of compassion and develop hatred. This is very common. If this is the case, the cause and effect of the arising of compassion will be destroyed. Even if one sees sentient beings falling into hell creating the cause for it, one should generate compassion, so how can one say that they are not objects of compassion? Because they do not fall into hell by chance. Therefore, one should generate joy in the benefits of compassion and train the mind in impartial compassion. By training in this way, the mind will become workable, free from harmful thoughts and attachment and aversion. The Sublime Essence states: Great compassion makes the mind workable, harmless, and attains the supreme adorned with joy. As it is. In order to explain the object and aspect of joy, the nature of joy is to rejoice in the perfect qualities of others, to cultivate good wishes for all beings, to rejoice in the achievements of others through their own abilities, and to pray that they will never be separated from it in the future. This can also be divided into three: In the Extensive Explanation of the Four Immeasurables, it is said: Joy is to rejoice that sentient beings possess wealth, dharma, and happiness. Joy that focuses on the perfection of one's own accumulation is the meaning of rejoicing in the fact that one has a great accumulation of virtue. Joy that focuses on the taste of the sublime dharma is when oneself and others hear the dharma.

the taste of, and the meaning of joy obtained through finding the taste of thought and meditation. As it is said, here one should practice the initial meaning, that is, if one sees any sentient beings who are happy and joyful, rich and endowed with enjoyment, and free from unfavorable circumstances, may this happiness and prosperity be complete, may they never be separated! Likewise, may all sentient beings be happy and complete! When will I experience the joy of seeing such a situation? Furthermore, may they have long life and be free from illness, may they generate special virtuous thoughts, turn away from sinful thoughts, temporarily obtain the happiness of gods and humans, and ultimately attain the happiness of omniscience, wouldn't that be wonderful? As the Twenty Thousand Verses say: If one sees any sentient beings prospering with their own happiness, one should think like this: May this happiness never be separated from them! May they transcend the happiness of gods and humans and attain the happiness of omniscience! As it is said. In particular, for all those who have become objects of competition and envy, just like cultivating loving-kindness, transforming the mind and learning to generate pure good wishes is the antidote to the unfavorable aspects of joy. Incidentally, for one's own manifested roots of virtue, and for generating the wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating, one should also cultivate joy and strive to generate joy again and again. All of these should not be bound by the rope of attachment, but should be viewed as the nature of illusion. As the King of Samadhi Sutra says: Magicians conjure up, horses, elephants, chariots, and various things, but there is no real appearance in them, all phenomena should be known in the same way. Thus, for sentient beings who are the object of joy, and for conditioned virtue, the three wisdoms, etc., one should also know that they are the nature of illusion without appearance, and seal them with dedication. The benefits are: temporarily, because one's mind is free from jealousy and pain, one is at ease, and peace is naturally achieved. Ultimately, the way to have great meaning, as the Eight Thousand Verses say: A mind that is full of joy, a broad mind.
