Generosity specific to each, discipline that protects against one's own discordant aspects, patience that endures hardships, diligence that engages with joy, meditative concentration that does not stray to anything else, and wisdom that is grasped by the view of non-conceptualizing the three spheres—these become thirty-six in total. Furthermore, when those virtuous qualities are considered in relation to being condensed into the three trainings, the determination of six perfections also differs from the former. "By making the three trainings the master, the Victorious Ones have truly taught the six perfections. The first three are one type, the last two are two types, and one belongs to all three." Thus, by being free from attachment to the object of generosity, discipline becomes completely pure. From that, one becomes endowed with the four qualities of a renunciate, which is patience. The first three are condensed into the training in higher discipline. Meditative concentration is condensed into the training in higher concentration, and wisdom is condensed into the training in higher wisdom. Therefore, the last two are two types. Diligence belongs to all three, so it becomes the helper of all of them. Those are also related like cause and effect, and the way they abide in the distinctions of inferior and superior, and coarse and subtle, is as stated in that very text: "The latter arises dependent on the former, because they abide in inferior and superior, and because of coarse and subtle, these are taught in sequence." Furthermore, the meaning of the ultimate result is also connected to the Perfection of Wisdom. As it says in the *Bodhicharyavatara*: "All these limbs, the Sage has said, are for the sake of wisdom." This is how it is. The way to accomplish it is: generosity without expecting returns or ripening, discipline without aiming for happy migrations, patience without animosity towards all sentient beings, diligence that gathers all virtuous qualities, meditative concentration that excludes meditative absorption and formless absorptions, and wisdom that is grasped by skillful means and great compassion. As the former says: "Generosity without expectation, discipline without desiring rebirth, patience towards all, diligence that gathers qualities, likewise, meditative concentration is not formless, with wisdom endowed with skillful means, those who rely on the six perfections, thus truly practice." Furthermore, the results of those, if viewed from a temporary perspective

In the "Great Garland of Nachen," it says: "Generosity brings enjoyment, discipline brings happiness. Patience brings radiance, diligence brings majesty. Samadhi brings peace, wisdom brings liberation." Furthermore, from the ultimate perspective, the Form Body can be summarized as arising from the accumulation of merit, and the Dharma Body can be summarized as arising from the accumulation of wisdom. Therefore, the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas in this way exists in the essence of the six perfections, so the content expressed is always mixed together. All of these generate what has not yet arisen in one's own mind-stream, and ensure that what has already arisen does not decline, but rather increases more and more. Third, the discipline of benefiting sentient beings is: the mind that is directly or indirectly engaged in the benefit of others in all ways, together with its associated mental factors, is its essence. That is, if one does not fully rely on the four means of gathering, one cannot accomplish the purpose of what should be learned. Therefore, it is also said in the "Lotus Garland": "Well summon them with the fan of generosity," and so on, as mentioned before. Among these, first, sentient beings are well gathered by material generosity, and then their minds are guided by pleasant words, so that they develop a desire, aspiration, and joy for practicing the Dharma, thereby causing the disciples to practice the Dharma in accordance with their respective dispositions. Therefore, for those who believe in the Lesser Vehicle, they should be temporarily taken in with the Dharma that corresponds to it, and then gradually guided to the right path; for those who believe in the extremely profound and vast Dharma, they should be skilled in taming them with methods related to behavior and timing. Master Shantideva said: "Do not show the supreme Dharma to the inferior, do not apply the inferior Dharma to the vessel of the vast Dharma." Therefore, for others, one must also abide in actions consistent with the goal of leading them into the path by any means. If one does not accomplish it oneself, even if one puts others on the path of entering or leaving, they will not listen, because this is obvious. Among these, generosity accomplishes temporary benefits, pleasant speech accomplishes the corresponding cause, practicing the Dharma accomplishes ultimate benefits, and actions consistent with the goal cause others to follow oneself.
