That's contradictory. It is said. So, for the sake of others, there is generosity, ethics, and patience. For one's own sake, there must be wisdom, meditation, and diligence. Therefore, generosity achieves temporary benefits, and ethics prevents all harm from others, so the benefits are greater. If one cannot tolerate harm from others, ethics will be flawed, so even if scolded, one does not scold back, etc. By guarding one's mind with the four qualities of a monk, one needs patience that does not mind, so these three are mainly for the benefit of others. One's own benefit is that one must rely on the perfection of wisdom to attain the wisdom of liberation. Its opposite is the distraction of the mind, so one must rely on the perfection of meditation to attain the ability to focus at will. Attaining it in this way is not possible for the lazy, so one must work diligently day and night without delay. It is said that: Extremely diligent for the sake of sentient beings, Giving, non-harming, and patience are practiced, Abiding and liberation are fundamentally possessed, One's own benefit is all that can be done. It is said. Its meaning is that non-harming is ethics, abiding in focus is meditation, liberation is wisdom, and fundamentally possessing is Diligence is shown by the first three, which have done all kinds of things for the benefit of others. The latter three are all kinds of things for one's own benefit, which are implicitly accomplished. In the Ornament of the Sutras, it says: Not being poor, not harming, Enduring harm, not being weary of deeds, Making joy, speaking well, therefore, The benefit of others is one's own benefit. It is said. Also, by experiencing meditation on the basis of diligence, one attains tranquility. Then, the wisdom of individual discrimination arises as insight, and one attains the wisdom of liberation. From that, the first of the benefits of others, the characteristic of the perfection of generosity, is shown. The essence of generosity is non-attachment. In terms of division, there are three: Dharma, material, and fearlessness. There are also three types of material things: Giving, great giving, and extreme giving. Giving is giving food, clothing, vehicles, elephants, land, and realms to others. Great giving is giving sons and daughters. Giving up family is extreme giving. Bird

The position of Ka, which is the giving of the head and limbs. The nature of generosity is non-attachment, which is the antidote to attachment to enjoyment. As it is said in the Bodhisattva-bhumi: What is the nature of generosity? The mind of the Bodhisattva, which is born together with non-attachment, regardless of all possessions and his own body, and the actions of body and speech that completely give away the objects to be given, which are taken up by it, and all the actions of body and speech that are taken up by the virtuous mind of giving. There are three types: Dharma giving, material giving, and fearlessness giving. Among them, from the point of view of the importance of necessity, Dharma giving is mentioned first, but from the point of view of the importance of function, material giving and fearlessness giving are combined here. Among them, the first case is that it is not necessary to have abundant objects to give. Even if all of one's possessions have been given to sentient beings, and one has only a little left, one thinks that it belongs to sentient beings, and on top of that, one is still willing to accept the mind of giving from many aspects. For example, thinking that if this great earth becomes food and drink, I will be able to relieve the poverty of all the poor, such as the pretas. In this way, by increasing the great mind of giving that pacifies the suffering of others, one must destroy the attachment of stinginess like a snake shedding its skin. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: The generosity of the Bodhisattva is non-attachment, non-attachment, no attachment, and not attachment itself, non-attachment, non-attachment, no attachment. Previously, someone wanted to compete with the generosity of the food offering of the helpless protector, but was unable to match it, so he renounced all wealth and became a monk, and was prophesied to be superior to the food offering. Therefore, those who have wealth should give even more, starting with giving a little food and drink, and gradually increasing the power of wisdom, learning to give clothes, dwellings, utensils, vehicles, mounts, elephants, and even countries. As it is recorded in the Jataka, the king of Kosala once gave a bowl of hot porridge to four ascetics, and as a result, he obtained the kingdom, and the merchant was not overwhelmed, but was begged by a beggar.
