One should put on armor. Regarding this, one should think like this: beginners are accustomed to clinging to self, and one should abandon the cowardice of not wanting to be born that way due to afflictions. Why? Because viewing the aggregates as a collection is said to be the lineage of the Tathagata, and the way in which the mind of enlightenment arises depends on clinging to self. In the Sutra Requested by Light-Holder, it says: For example, from muddy water with fertilizer, a lotus is born, but never from dry land. Likewise, in beings with afflictions and wrong views, the victorious Dharma of the princes is born. Also, as it says in the Precious Garland: As long as there is clinging to the aggregates, there is clinging to self. From clinging to self, karma is born again, and from karma, rebirth is born. Therefore, self-clinging and afflictions, when grasped by skillful means, are the cause of the arising of qualities, and this is the characteristic of the Great Vehicle. In general, the necessity of speaking about the difference in mental strength here is: in the path of the Vinaya and Mantras, one is not allowed to listen to the precepts unless one has taken vows beforehand. The path of the Bodhisattva is that one should first understand the precepts well, and when one believes and is able to practice, one should take the precepts correctly, as it is said in the Bodhisattva-bhumi. Therefore, entering into this conduct is for the purpose of having great practice in which the difference in mental strength increases more and more. In the Collected Sutras, it says: Bodhisattvas who possess the practice of the six perfections and so on, go by the miraculous power of the Tathagata. It is praised that there is nothing faster than going by the miraculous power of the Tathagata. Other than the six perfections and the ten bhumis, there is no other path for Bodhisattvas to enter very quickly. The Sutra also taught: In this way, the mind stream will gradually be cleansed like wiping away dirt. It is explained with scriptural support. Therefore, with skillful means, great courage, and the manifestation of the self-result of aspirations, the mind focused on the benefit of others is vast, the meaning is great by accomplishing higher realms and definite goodness, it is free from confusion by transcending the world, and it is inexhaustible by the increase of virtue. As it says in the Ornament: Vast and without confusion, meaningful and inexhaustible.

Etc. All the merits of generosity and so on should be understood as fourfold. As it is said, intending to be like a boatman and a guardian, generate mental strength, and train in the vast conduct of the six or ten perfections, as well as the four objects of gathering and so on, of a Bodhisattva, thereby entering the city of omniscience all at once, which is suchness, or the nature of Prajñāpāramitā, gradually entering the stage of the Tathāgata from the first ground. Why? Because the Bodhisattva vows are truly received. If one promises to benefit sentient beings directly or indirectly, but bears the burden of downfall, slowly walking the path of the lower realms, it is because one has been struck by the demon of ignorance and unawareness. As it is said: Those supreme Bodhisattvas who carry the great burden of sentient beings on their heads do not hesitate to walk slowly. Because they are tightly bound by various bonds of self and others, they should strive with a hundredfold effort. As it is said. In this regard, our teacher also went through countless eons to perfect the vast conduct of the Bodhisattvas. Moreover, whatever kind of action is started, it must be related to the basis that perfectly accomplishes that action. Since sentient beings do not possess wisdom, they regard this basis of higher rebirth as the power of past good deeds, but afterwards they do not strive to create this cause. The more perfect it is, the more it becomes the cause of increasing afflictions and sins. Therefore, the fruit of previously accumulated virtuous deeds is exhausted like the provisions of a long-distance traveler. They do not strive to newly increase virtue, and therefore, they do not care about the beginning of going from bad to worse in the future, which is a cause for great sorrow. Those who know such faults and are able to use discrimination should not be swayed by perfection, afflictions, and inverted actions, but should rely on and familiarize themselves with the practice of the six perfections, such as generosity, in all times and places, from all aspects. As the Ornament of the Sutras says: "Enjoyment and body perfection, and retinue activity perfection, higher rebirth, constantly not turning to the voice of afflictions, in all activities not inverted."
