There are also transformations like this, and those are the things to be confessed by stating the matter in front of a person. Regarding the timing, the actual teaching from the Sutra Requested by the Venerable Ananda has already been cited. If a suitable object of confession is not found, then confess with words and restrain with the mind in front of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. In general, regarding the four perceptions for making something imperishable and stable, one should always learn the manner. The four perceptions for protecting from the perspective of stability: perceiving the virtuous friend as the Buddha, perceiving the Dharma taught by them as the path, perceiving those who practice it as friends, and perceiving all sentient beings as one's only child. These are the correct instructions for aspirations. As it is said in the Noble King of Samadhi Sutra: 'Young man, possessing four perceptions, the mind of enlightenment becomes stable. What are the four? Perceiving the Buddha from the truly virtuous friend, perceiving the Dharma taught by them as the path, perceiving those who practice it as friends, and perceiving all sentient beings as one's only child.' That is how it is. Now, the discipline of the Bodhisattva for gathering virtuous Dharmas is: declaring the vows that are the essence of the six perfections, which are the practices to be entered into. Like this, the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, skillful means and wisdom, the four objects of gathering, the vows to refrain from the misdeeds of a Bodhisattva, the gathering of virtuous Dharmas, the three types of moral conduct that benefit sentient beings, and so on, all are like a multitude of grains poured into a large container, the six perfections are able to gather them all, other gatherers cannot do so, therefore this is the great vow of the Bodhisattva's path, and it also shows the vastness through the name of Paramita. First, in order to show the distinctions: Among the six perfections that are the practices to be entered into, the first five are the supreme accumulation of merit, the last one is the great accumulation of wisdom, without relying on these two accumulations, there will be no Buddha. Adding skillful means, power, aspiration, and wisdom, it becomes ten. Like this, the six perfections are the Dharmas that gather the virtues of a Bodhisattva, and that is also with respect to householders, patience, generosity, and moral conduct. Thus, the Noble

Nāgārjuna said, "Generosity, discipline, and especially the Dharma of patience, are taught to householders. Always meditate with a heart of compassion." The discipline mentioned here refers to the upasaka, meaning to abstain from evil. From the perspective of the ordained, in the ordination ceremony of the Compendium of Sutras, it says, "With the discipline of morality, one should follow the Buddha's teachings." This means that the main way to accumulate merit is through vows and guarding those vows, while the rest, such as meditation, are supplementary. As it says in the Bhadracarya-pranidhana, "With this excellent conduct, diligently cultivate the pāramitās, and never forget the bodhicitta." This is the meaning. These ten pāramitās are divided according to the antidotes to the obstacles to be abandoned, as it says in the Madhyāntavibhāga, "Generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom, the pāramitās, skillful means, power, aspiration, and knowledge, these are established as the ten perfections." This means that they are divided in order to counteract the ten obstacles: miserliness, immoral discipline, anger, laziness, distraction, wrong wisdom, unskillful means, obstacles to power, failure to fulfill aspirations, and obstacles to knowledge. From the perspective of the six perfections, the first five, such as generosity, are the accumulation of merit, which is the cause of higher realms, and the last one is the cause of definite goodness, without error. However, one should not mistakenly believe that these two only directly experience their respective results. If the accumulation of merit is practiced with unskillful means and lack of wisdom, then its result will only be a large body and enjoyment in samsara, and a long life. If it is held by skillful means and profound wisdom, then it is very suitable to become the cause of omniscient wisdom, therefore it is shown that the combination of skillful means and wisdom is necessary. As it says in the Ratnāvalī, "The form body, in brief, is born from the accumulation of merit of a king." If it is from the perspective of the ten perfections, the first three of the remaining four are merit, and the last one is wisdom, which is the cause of definite goodness. Why is wisdom considered the cause (of definite goodness)? The Mañjuśrīvikrīḍita Sūtra says, "The one with merit, the accumulation of merit, the one with wisdom, the great source of wisdom." Therefore, it is clear. Therefore, what is practiced by the Mahāyāna practitioners
