The root of lack of faith, small compassion, not fearing the suffering of samsara, being seized by evil friends, thinking that great Bodhi is far away, being blessed by demons, relying on inferior individuals, being devoted to the treatises of the Hinayana, Abandoning sentient beings, speaking evil words to Bodhisattvas and generating malice, not abandoning aspects that are incompatible with the mind of Bodhi, and also not understanding, being careless, being disrespectful, and having many afflictions. This is the view of the yogi of Bangala. Afflictions are the root of everything, so treat them like enemies. For small causes and effects of harm, Those whose angry pride is extremely strong, endure the punishment of arrows, spears, and swords, and do not retreat before achieving their purpose, then in any case, fight with the powerful afflictions that have become my enemies, and how can they abandon the asceticism of guarding vows without eliminating hatred? In the world, for small causes of harm, like touching the edge of a field, and small effects, like a drop of water, are also extremely unbearable. Becoming angry, experiencing a mind like a poisonous snake, engaging in mutual fighting, and not caring about the great wounds caused by various weapons such as arrows and spears until one has attained the position of one's own victory, Do not retreat from battle. In any case, the enemy of afflictions who leads sentient beings to hell, animals, and the world of Yama, is powerful and has strong forces, and its nature is suffering. One must fight against it with strong antidotes. Not being lazy or timid, conquer it like an enemy. As it is said in the *Bodhicharyavatara*: When destroying afflictions in this way, one should always not retreat. One should be attached to this, and fight like an enemy. Those kinds of afflictions, except for the destroyer of afflictions, whether I am gathered up and killed, or my head is cut off, it is easy. At any time, do not surrender to the enemy of afflictions.

Therefore, to be a companion in the asceticism of guarding the precepts, one should offer the seven precious royal possessions suitable for the Lordly Noble One. From the practice of the conventional Bodhicitta of the Teacher Hero: With the precious wheel of faith, guide the path of virtue day and night; with the precious consort of discipline, adorn the extremely beautiful garland of ornaments; with the precious minister of generosity, generate the great power of merit and wisdom; with the precious general of listening, crush the battlefield of the enemy of wrong thoughts; with the excellent horse of knowing shame, bury the afflictions and self; with the elephant of the power of shame, abandon the inverted deeds; with the precious jewel of wisdom, fulfill the hopes of oneself and others; the wealth of the noble one with limitless qualities, other ordinary wealth is the cause of suffering. So it is said. Here, being confined in the prison of afflictions, even one's own limits cannot be known, then how can the steadfastness of liberating all beings from that diminish? Therefore, afflictions do not exist in external objects, nor do they exist in the internal aggregates of senses, nor do they exist in the realm of what is called "between" and "between," but arise suddenly from universal conceptualization. If universal conceptualization also has no place, then afflictions are not corporeal, so they cannot be like a support and what is supported. However, by nature, all sentient beings are only confined in this prison, because of causes such as ignorance, even one's own limits cannot be known by oneself, then how can the steadfastness of saving other beings from that and liberating them diminish? In particular, sentient beings, because of bad deeds, now can never benefit them at any time, and if a peaceful mind arises, that is the limit of abandonment. Therefore, as an antidote to that: On the ground that possesses mindfulness and awareness, it is easy to generate the sprout of Bodhicitta, so one should guard it without diminishing, purify the defilements, and diligently practice the methods of increasing it. Thus connecting, possessing mindfulness and awareness, and being continuous, is like the earth, from that basis, guard the seed of Bodhicitta and generate the sprout. As the learned Shantideva said: People afflicted by disease.

All actions are powerless, likewise, ignorance agitates the mind, all actions are powerless. If one possesses a mind without mindfulness, their hearing, thinking, and meditating, like water in a cracked pot, will not remain in memory. Even if one is learned, faithful, and diligently strives, due to the fault of lacking mindfulness, it will become tainted with the defilement of downfall. The thieves of non-mindfulness, following after the loss of mindfulness, even if accumulating much merit, it is as if being stolen by thieves, and one will fall into the lower realms. Thus it is said. My gains and respect, body and livelihood are easily lost, other virtues are also easily diminished, but the mind should never be lost. For those who wish to protect their minds, mindfulness and awareness are essential. Protect them with all diligence, I prostrate with folded hands. Thus, to counteract the afflictions, one should generate non-negligence, and not let the three of mindfulness and awareness decline, not only not abandoning them, but also diligently studying the means to increase and expand them, therefore one should rely on a virtuous spiritual friend, and repeatedly read the Bodhisattva's Vinaya Pitaka, as it is also said in the Compendium of Trainings. Jowo Rinpoche once said that because there was no Vinaya Pitaka to read in Tibet, his faith gradually declined, this is an experience of oral instruction, therefore one should constantly encourage oneself with this method, taking vows three times a day and three times a night with a qualified ritual, or if unable to do so, one should also do as stated in the commentary of the Good Deity: Great compassionate one, please have mercy on me! I, named so-and-so, confess all my sins one by one, and will never do them again! With this intention, truly take them. Thus practice. Now, speaking of the Bodhisattva's precepts, first, to show the abandonment of negative actions to be avoided, and their branches, therefore it is said: विशेषपतनानांविंशतिः । (viśeṣa patanānāṃ viṃśatiḥ | ratna caura prabhṛtayaḥ pañca rājñāḥ | grāma nagara vidhvaṃsanādayaḥ pañca mantriṇaḥ | aśikṣita buddhi śūnyatā darśanādayaḥ | aṣṭau pṛthagjanāḥ pravrajyā vandanatyāgaḥ | Twenty special downfalls. Five of the king, such as stealing jewels. Five of the ministers, such as destroying villages and cities. Eight ordinary people, such as showing emptiness to the untrained mind. Abandoning vows and offerings.) Among them, the twenty special transgressions are: དཀོན་མཆོག་དཀོར་འཕྲོག་ལ་སོགས་རྒྱལ་པོའི་ལྔ། (dkon mchog dkor 'phrog la sogs rgyal po'i lnga | Stealing the wealth of the Three Jewels, etc., are the five of the king); གྲོང་དང་གྲོང་རྡལ་འཇོམས་སོགས་བློན་པོའི་ལྔ། (grong dang grong rdal 'joms sogs blon po'i lnga | Destroying towns and cities, etc., are the five of the ministers); བློ་མ་སྦྱངས་ལ་སྟོང་ཉིད་སྟོན་པ་སོགས། (blo ma sbyangs la stong nyid ston pa sogs | Showing emptiness to those who have not trained their minds, etc.); ཕལ་པའི་བརྒྱད་དང་སྨོན་འཇུག་གཏོང་རྣམས་སྤང༌། (phal pa'i brgyad dang smon 'jug gtong rnams spang | Abandoning the eight ordinary people and abandoning the aspiration and action minds). Among them, the five certainties of the king are, as it is said in the Chapter of Akashagarbha: Son of the lineage, king, king of the royal lineage, the root of the five downfalls from the empowerment from the crown of the head, that is, the downfall of
