Return. And, the object of focus should not be clinging to the illusion as real, but should be dedicated to the realm of illusion-like appearances. As mentioned earlier: Noble son, all dharmas are like dreams, like illusions. Merit should also be like a dream, completely dedicated in an illusion-like manner. And so on. The nature of dedication is the mind that transforms roots of virtue into aspirations for enlightenment. As stated in the 'Manjushri Land Qualities Adornment Sutra': All dharmas are contingent upon conditions, Abiding at the peak of intention. Whatever aspiration is planted, Such a fruit will be obtained. And so on. Words consistent with this can only be accomplished by following the words spoken by those who have realized the qualities of the noble path beyond the first ground, and cannot be accomplished by just any random means. Nowadays, Tibetans do not understand this principle and blindly follow confused statements that are not even grammatically correct. So, if one knows the words of dedication, isn't it the patron who recites them? Indeed, it is the patron who recites them, but it is not merely the arrangement of words. Rather, it is taking the words spoken by the noble ones who have accomplished the truth as the patron's words, and then the lamas and sangha respond from the depths of their hearts, expressing the wish for accomplishment. Thus, the expression of words and the one who responds in accordance are those who accomplish the truth. Through skillful means and the power of the three strengths, this virtue will become immeasurable. As stated in the 'Bodhisattva Pitaka': Shariputra, a skillful bodhisattva can transform even a small offering into a great one, increasing it through the power of wisdom, expanding it through the power of knowledge, and making it immeasurable through the power of dedication. In short, the virtue that is grasped by the three excellences is called the virtue of liberation, which means that at the time of application, it is grasped by the excellent intention to benefit sentient beings; at the time of the main practice, it is grasped by the excellent wisdom of non-discrimination; and in the subsequent practice, it is grasped by the excellent dedication of dream-like illusion. These three are the correct path or cause to the excellent enlightenment. Among them, the dedication that relies on the previously existing cause of virtue is called dedication, while for what has not yet arisen, it is called aspiration.

Explanation of the Dedication of Jey Gyaltsen Because not only the merits that have already been accomplished are dedicated, but also the merits that will be done in the future are dedicated. To distinguish these two solely on the basis of whether the root of virtue has already existed or not, this argument is harmful. In terms of making aspirations, there are two possibilities: being connected with the root of virtue of a good intention and not being connected. The first case, the nature of great compassion and love, are all the merits of great giving, therefore, Gyalwai Lha also said in the commentary on the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life": "Aspiration and giving are both completely dedicable, aspiration is not something that cannot be completely dedicated." Therefore, whether the cause of virtue has already existed or will be done later, relying on a single virtuous root with a specific object is called dedication; expressing arbitrarily through good or bad intentions is called aspiration, and it should be analyzed in this way. If that is the case, then for merit without an object, is there no dedication? Believing that good and evil exist in nature is the view of the Samkhya school. The realm of Dharma that we desire is beyond the three times, the three realms, and good and evil, therefore we do not believe in dedicating to it. As it is said in the "Tantra of True Union": "His sin and merit, both are discriminations, the wise should abandon these two." This is consistent with what is extensively explained in the "Perfection of Wisdom Sutra." If measured from the merit of properly completing the seven-branch offering, as it is said in the "Subahupariprccha Sutra": "If one turns to the Buddhas of the ten directions, joins palms and prostrates in offering, rejoices in merit and confesses all sins, urges, entreats, and makes aspirations, his accumulation of merit is immeasurable, constantly filling the space." Thus it is said. If one is not satisfied with drinking the nectar of contentment, even the cloud of offerings that is not held in mind, fearing to wander to the end of words, one also values offering one's own body as a seat. In general, although the taming of the mind is clearly shown through various forms of offerings, individual beings, due to not being accustomed to contentment and being tormented by the heat of greed, for the cloud of offerings that is not held in mind, etc.
