Here, for the time being, the teacher Chandrakirti explains the Tathāgatagarbha as provisional meaning, and also, if the view of the Uttaratantra is also concluded as the view being emptiness, with the need being for the sake of abandoning the five faults, then it is suitable for those proponents of tenets who, with sharp wisdom related to the eight consciousness aggregates, acknowledge the words of the irreversible wheel of Dharma as provisional meaning. Thus, its view is the very nature of Dharmatā free from elaboration. The need is stated in the Uttaratantra: Cowardice, belittling inferior sentient beings, Holding wrong views, slandering the true Dharma, And excessive attachment to self; for whatever five faults There are, it is taught for the purpose of abandoning them. Thus, the five faults are eliminated, and in order to honestly cling to the self, relying on mere words that grasp the sound, thinking that in the continuum of beings, a permanent, stable, and enduring body adorned with the thirty-two marks dwells, in order to abandon confusion with the self of the non-Buddhists, therefore, in the Nirvana Sutra it says: Therefore, all sentient beings will have unsurpassed perfect enlightenment in the future, therefore it is called the Tathāgatagarbha. All sentient beings now have all kinds of afflictions, therefore there are no thirty-two marks and eighty minor marks. And so on. These are for the trainees of the intermediate turning of the wheel of Dharma, who, without relying on the final turning of the wheel, can independently contemplate the views of the three doors of liberation; and it is believed that the trainees of the final turning of the wheel cannot contemplate in that way, but rely on the final turning of the wheel to seek the views of the intermediate turning of the wheel, and distinguish the difference between the former and the latter as sharpness and dullness of faculties. However, that basis of difference is not valid, how can it be established that all the trainees of the final turning of the wheel are dull-witted? The Sutra Collection also praises: Bodhisattvas who practice and possess the practice of the six perfections are those who travel by the miraculous power of the Tathāgatas, and there is no other traveler faster than that. In the Brahma's Inquiry Sutra it says: It should be practiced only by those with dull faculties, it is not permissible to say that those with sharp faculties should not practice, because the Bodhisattvas who abide from the first bhumi to the tenth bhumi

Therefore, their practices such as giving arise, but it is not that they do not practice the remaining ones at all. This is clear. Moreover, the first turning of the wheel of Dharma shows all phenomena of the aggregates and so on as being truly established together, thereby teaching the selflessness of the person. The second turning of the wheel shows all phenomena as not being truly established together, thereby teaching the selflessness of phenomena. The third turning of the wheel distinguishes that the completely imputed is not established in the ultimate sense, while the dependent and the perfectly established are established in the ultimate sense. Among these three turnings of the wheel, both the Great Vehicle traditions agree that the first is provisional. Regarding the latter two turnings, the Mind-Only school considers the third to be definitive, while the Madhyamaka school considers the second to be definitive. Therefore, here, for the time being, let the tenets of the causal vehicle be kept as they are. As it says in the *Moon Lamp Sutra*: "The realms of the world are empty. Whatever sutras I have spoken, the words and syllables are different but the meaning is the same. It is not possible to express everything. If one becomes accustomed to one phrase, then one will become accustomed to all of them." Also, as it says in the *Unborn Sutra*: "If one does not fully understand the nature of phenomena, one will not attain enlightenment through the bonds of words." Therefore, although the meaning of the definitive sutras and the great yoga is beyond words and thoughts, and cannot be exhausted by the terminology of the path, in order to guide inferior ordinary beings, it is necessary to guide them gradually. Therefore, one should understand that whatever intention is spoken according to need, there is no contradiction in terms of meaning. As it says in the *Lankavatara Sutra*: "What is called great learning is being skilled in meaning, not being skilled in words." Therefore, the tenets that are explained only from the point of view of terminology are like the paintings drawn by a mental painter. Regarding the difference in taking birth: from the second to the tenth ground, one can successively take birth as a universal monarch of the four continents, Indra, Yama, Tushita, Nirmāṇarati, Paranirmita-vaśavartin, and from the three pure lands, the Brahma of the first thousand, the Great Brahma of the second thousand, the lord of the great thousand of the third thousand, and the son of the Great Lord of the gods. The power of the tenth ground is described in the *Avatamsaka Sutra*: Those who abide in this can freely transform the three realms.
