, and the consciousness that does not allow clinging to clarity. It depends on the objects of the five senses, engaging in negation, affirmation, and grasping, and is therefore called the mistaken appearance of the seven consciousnesses, such as the five elements, mountains and forests, buildings, pottery, cloth, oil, sprouts from seeds, and butter from yogurt. All material phenomena arising from the cause of action are external dependent arising, that is, arising in a way that is mutually dependent. As it is said, in the *Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra*: "Mahāmati, just as pottery arises from a lump of clay, cloth from thread, oil from rapeseed, sprouts from seeds, and butter from churning yogurt with human effort, Mahāmati, this is external dependent arising, the later arising from the former." So it is said. Internal dependent arising is: from ignorance arises action. Likewise, by relying on each other, the connection up to old age and death is internal dependent arising. Among these, the tenets of the Mahāyāna have already been explained. Here, according to the Śrāvakayāna, the aggregates at the time when afflictions manifest in the previous life are ignorance. Similarly, the five aggregates at the time of accumulating karma in the previous life are action. Then, the five aggregates at the stage of connecting rebirth in the mother's womb are consciousness. Then, experiencing the five stages of change such as being in a gelatinous state, the five aggregates until the sense faculties have not yet opened are name and form. The five aggregates from when the sense faculties have opened until one cannot experience objects are the six sense sources. From the time the sense faculties awaken to objects until one cannot distinguish between pleasure and pain, the five aggregates are contact. From distinguishing between pleasure and pain until one cannot experience the pleasure of intercourse, the five aggregates are feeling. From being able to engage in intercourse until one has not taken desired objects, the five aggregates are craving. The five aggregates at the stage of taking desired objects are grasping. Then, the five aggregates at the stage of accumulating karma are existence. Then, the five aggregates that arise from the mother's womb at the beginning of the next life

Oh, that is birth. Then comes the name and form of the next life, the six sense sources, contact, craving, and the four feelings, which are old age and death themselves, as stated in the Treasury of Knowledge: Two at the beginning and end, with eight in the middle, fully complete. Ignorance and afflictions are of the past state, actions are of past deeds. Consciousness is the connecting aggregate, name and form are after that, before the arising of the six sense sources, that is before the aggregation of the three. Contact is of pleasure and pain, etc., before the ability to know the cause. Before clinging to feelings is craving, enjoying sexual desire, of those attached, closely taking enjoyment, running around to obtain it. That is the action that produces future fruit, that is existence. Connection is birth, between feeling and old age and death. And, from Salu Jangpa (place name) it is also said: Whatever is the birth source of name and form, that is old age and death. Between birth and feeling is also the same. Thus. The way these twelve links of interdependence are completed is twofold: momentary and continuous. The first is, if considered from the moment of completing an action, the mind of unknowingly committing sin when killing due to the influence of oneself and others is ignorance, the part of engaging in action is action, the clear knowing at the time of action is consciousness, the name and form and six sense sources of oneself and others, the part of striking with a weapon is contact, the part of pleasure and pain arising from that is feeling, the mind that accepts and rejoices outwardly is craving, from that, entering into the next life and taking, from that, the part possessing the five aggregates is existence, from that, the part of the present and future is birth, the old age and death of that part, that is, one action is fully complete in the moment from beginning to end. Also, for the knowable, knowledge suddenly entering is the moment of ending, like this, a hundred and twenty moments are its moment, that is, three categories. The second is, as the Hearers say, one cycle of cause and effect is completed in three lifetimes, thus, ignorance and action of the previous life act as the cause, from which the five results such as consciousness arise in this life, the three of craving, grasping, and existence of this life act as the cause, from which the two results of birth and old age arise in the next life. Thus knowing
