The size of the body is not the measure. All Buddhas are equal in their Rupakaya and Dharmakaya. One should also regard the field of accumulation as equal. Regarding the transformations that need to be understood with discretion: it does not mean killing parents, nor does it mean killing those who should be killed. Rather, it refers to killing the king and the one who holds vows. If one clings to the meanings attributed to attachment, the Alaya-vijnana, etc., as truly existent, that is a great mistake. Entering into that requires discreet understanding: Those of the Shravaka lineage are afraid when they hear of the selflessness of phenomena. In the midst of the snowy mountains, in front of the Pandit Atiśa Dīpaṃkara Śrījñāna, who correctly speaks of the Madhyamaka view, came two monks from India who abide in the twelve qualities of practice. When Jowo (referring to Atiśa) spoke of the selflessness of the person, the two of them would say, "Don't say that, it's too scary," but when he spoke of the selflessness of phenomena, they would not say that, and they would feel refreshed when they heard the Heart Sutra. Jowo felt discouraged, and driven by compassion and Bodhicitta, he said that if one does not strive to accumulate special merit, one cannot go anywhere by relying solely on pure discipline. In order to lead such people into the Mahayana, the sutra says, "Subhuti, form is a sign, sound is a sign." Just as saying that form exists, the listener will not feel fear. And the speaker thinks that all appearances are like a dream. The discreet understanding of characteristics is: In order to understand the profound reality of no-self-nature, that is, the non-existence of the object of the self of phenomena. For the completely imputed is the characteristic, for the other-dependent is the arising, for the perfectly established is the ultimate truth, because there are no three self-natures, so the explanation of the dharmas is profound. The great scholar said: Profound means not made by oneself, not made by others, not made by both, not arising from causelessness. The discreet understanding of the antidote is: When the thousand Buddhas are proclaimed in the Bhadrakalpa Sutra, considering that some may mistakenly think that Shakyamuni Buddha is short in stature, his light is only one fathom, his enlightenment time is short, and his lifespan is short, and that he is superior or inferior compared to other Buddhas, therefore, the body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities of Vairochana Buddha, like the ocean of snow mountains, are explained in the form of an inexhaustible wheel of adornments, indicating that he is the root of the emanations of all Buddhas.
