The way to pacify disputes and afflictions is also as previously stated: In the wide valley, without the clamor of crowds, it is most peaceful; vast enjoyment is connected with the lush green forests; the clear riverbank, like the flow of water from the source, with a sound as pleasant as the beat of a drum, as if proclaiming, "We are not a place of afflictions." Thus it is said. Therefore, relying on the secluded forest, afflictions cannot increase, which is a praise of the effect on the cause. From the perspective of imputation, they proclaim the qualities of tending towards the forest as an argument for the teachings of the Tathagata. As it is said in the "King of Samadhi Sutra": If someone were to offer flowers, incense, food, and all comfortable items to all the Buddhas for eons, it would be better to turn towards a solitary place with extreme renunciation, taking about seven steps, for this accumulates immeasurable merit more than the former. Completely abandon attachment to body and life, and meditate on emptiness and peace. With diligence and extreme diligence, dwell in solitude like a deer. Furthermore, when Manjushri taught the qualities of the Buddha-field, he said: Shariputra, abiding in solitude is fully endowed with ten benefits. What are the ten? They are: completely abandoning busyness, relying on extreme solitude, being able to focus on meditation, not having many affairs, pleasing the Buddhas, not being separated from the comfort of their body, their pure conduct not being interrupted, easily attaining samadhi, the words and letters taught not being wasted, and fully understanding the meaning of the Dharma that has been heard. Shariputra, a Bodhisattva who abides in solitude is fully endowed with these ten benefits. In accordance with this, it is also extensively taught in the "Moon Lamp Sutra" and the "Sutra Requested by Ghangpo." Next is the actual teaching on meditating on dhyana: Wherever meditation can be truly stable, that is the characteristic of higher training in mind. The physical posture that relies on dependent arising is: the seven dharmas of Vairochana, with the mind as the life force. Strive to cultivate equanimity that is neither one nor two, as well as the grasping and examination of any object of focus.

By. The mind is bound to virtue, and the appearance of proliferation dissolves into the oneness of Dharma. The object of appearance does not cease, but there is no clinging to it. Wisdom does not conceptualize objects, but remains in equipoise. The subsequent attainment of higher insight is the essence of oneness. Then, the essence of meditation is the mind being fixed on whatever virtuous object there is. As the Jewel Cloud Sutra says, 'The nature of samadhi is the mind abiding in one-pointedness.' Here, the cause of its arising is the three types of discipline and the three trainings that realize them. For now, firstly, from the perspective of the common vehicle, higher samadhi arises from practicing higher discipline; from practicing that, higher samadhi arises; from practicing that, higher wisdom arises, and by that, the accumulation of afflictions is cut off at the root, and liberation is attained. As it says in the Vinaya-bhesajyavastu, 'Monks, by practicing discipline, samadhi will abide for a long time; by practicing samadhi, wisdom will abide for a long time; by practicing wisdom, the mind will be completely liberated from desire, hatred, and delusion.' Therefore, the Vinaya Pitaka, by guarding the Pratimoksha vows, tames one's own mind and combines the field of activity with excellence. The Sutra Pitaka distinguishes the three trainings of both the Great and Small Vehicles and extensively speaks of love and so forth, the four Brahmaviharas filling the world, thereby correctly applying the higher training of the mind. The Abhidharma Pitaka unerringly shows the meaning of what is to be expressed, thereby correctly applying the higher training of wisdom to the four noble truths, so this place of meditation is the characteristic of the higher training of the mind. At the beginning of entering it, one must first generate great compassion, wanting to manifestly subdue all beings. As it says in the Ornament Sutra, 'Vast and extensive, pure, able to accomplish great benefit, superior by virtue itself, pure intention is higher intention.' Therefore, one must manifest the higher intention of wanting to place all sentient beings in the heart of enlightenment and to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions.
