There is also no certainty of remaining for even a moment. Therefore, the greatest antidote to laziness, which is the opposite of diligence, is only the recollection of impermanence, which is the essence of the instructions. Therefore, one must generate diligence that is not mixed with laziness. With diligence that clears away the impurities of laziness, one should not show slow flow and partiality, but until reaching the ocean of omniscience, one should not abandon the practice of swift diligence. Among them, the rivers can make the dirt settle, as an example, the opposite of diligence is only laziness, therefore, the path of sometimes being diligent and sometimes not being diligent is far from Bodhi and accompanied by weariness, therefore one should know its faults. As it is said in the Sutra on the Establishment of Mindfulness: The root of all afflictions is laziness, whoever has it, whoever has one laziness, then all dharmas are absent. So it is said. Although diligence is established as one category, in reality it is the companion of all six perfections, if there is no diligence, other dharmas will also decline. As it is said in the Sutra Requested by Blo-gros rGya-mtsho: For the lazy, Bodhi is extremely far, extremely far. For the lazy, there is nothing from generosity to wisdom. For the lazy, there is no benefit to others. So it is said. Because of the absence of diligence, the ripening result is bad, as it is also said in the Mother Sutra: With laziness, one cannot even accomplish one's own benefit, let alone benefit others? With the ripening result of laziness, one will be reborn in the hells of sentient beings, the place of animals, and the world of Yama. So it is said. Just as without the wind that drives, the function of shaking and speeding cannot be accomplished, the nature of Bodhi depends on the vast accumulation of merit and wisdom, and without diligence, these cannot arise. Therefore it is said: Thus diligence is the basis of Bodhi, just as without wind there is no shaking, without merit there is no diligence. So it is said. Therefore, one should think about the benefits of diligence and the faults of laziness, I have entered the practice of a Bodhisattva and promised to practice, and I will purify each fault with its habitual tendencies, and increase each quality.
