Now then. Those who fear the results of karma should learn the one and only method of completely habituating their minds to cutting off opportunities for anger, and should apply themselves to the asceticism of patience. As requested by the daughter Blo-gros bzang-mo: "Do not increase the root of harm, anger. One should abide in love and desire for Dharma." And as stated in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "There is no evil like hatred, and no asceticism like patience. Therefore, one should diligently meditate on patience in various ways." Thus, if one examines and analyzes the object of harm, the harmer himself is also possessed by the demon of afflictions and is not independent. As stated by Chandrakirti: "Here, this is not the fault of sentient beings, but the fault of afflictions. If one analyzes in this way, the wise will not be angry with sentient beings." In particular, if one examines the nature of harm, patience will not be accomplished, so one should tame one's own mind. The object of harm is like thorns in the forest, which cannot be completely subdued and increase everywhere. If one subdues the agent of malice and anger, then the asceticism of patience will become a friend to me. Furthermore, if one's own mind has the complete ability to prevent anger, then one does not need to rely on whether the minds of others are disciplined or not, because the perfection of patience is perfected only by the absence of anger in one's own mind. As stated in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Sentient beings are as undisciplined as the sky, how can one completely subdue them all? If one subdues this mind of anger, it is like subduing all enemies." And as an example, although one cannot cover the entire earth with leather, covering the sole of a shoe with leather is like covering everything. Thus it is taught. In this way, if one can accomplish patience, then one does not need to suffer physically and mentally from inferior food and drink such as roots, leaves, sprouts, flowers, and wind-food, and tattered clothing, etc., because patience is the supreme asceticism. As stated in the Suhrllekha: "Thus, there is no asceticism equal to patience, therefore, do not open the door to anger. The Buddha said that by abandoning anger, one will attain non-returning." Thus it is. The way in which all harmful conditions arise depending on one's own conceptual proliferation. Touch is extremely

Do the arrows of harsh words pierce the hearts of beings? By taking that as the proximate cause, they quarrel and torment each other as support and supported. Like this, the cause of increasing anger is harsh words, etc. Even if one experiences the feeling of hatred like a broken heart, it is a weapon of non-existent words, so no one has pierced the heart or caused harm. Because of the proximate cause of the formless mind and mental factors, they gather together as harmer and harmed, like support and supported. Knowing that it is the nature of inner turmoil and torment, not contemplating the nature of harm is the best antidote, and its power is stable. However, for those who become antidotes through contemplation, the sharp weapons of scripture and reasoning explained in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life" and "Entering the Middle Way" should also be practiced. Here, as it is said in the Sutra Requested by Gampo: "Sons or daughters of good family should rely on and meditate on the Dharma of patience. If, when walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, someone comes holding a urinal, a poison bottle, ashes, or excrement and urine, and pours it on their head, or if the whole body is afflicted, they should not generate thoughts of anger or resentment, nor should they say, 'What fault have I committed?'" Similarly, apply this to all situations. What tangible thing touches what? Does it harm the body? Or does it harm the mind? The body is like grass, wood, tiles, and reflections. Because it has no conceptualization and no awareness, it is neither self nor other. If it harms the mind, the mind is colorless and formless, arising and ceasing in an instant, not remaining for even a moment, so it is neither self nor other. Like that. Similarly, here the causes and effects of harm are limitless, arising from oneself, like sound and echo. If self does not arise, there is no object of harm. Look at it as summoned by the causes of one's own previous actions. If something called "self" does not exist from the beginning, then there will be no cause or condition for clinging to others or to externals, and for anger and strife to arise from that. Like the noise of cacophony.
