Therefore, it is the practice of pleasing sentient beings. Thus it is said. Regarding this, even at the time of the first practitioner, there is no fault of not possessing the discipline of benefiting sentient beings, because the continuum that possesses the entering discipline and has not been corrupted, even in the state of mind wandering and sleep, has the nature of continuous merit, just like discipline. In summary, relying on these three disciplines, one accomplishes the three trainings of manifestation and realization, and attains Buddhahood on the fruit of perfect abandonment and realization. Thus, with the discipline of vows, one abandons perfectly, abandoning the two obscurations along with their habitual tendencies. With the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas, one obtains perfect realization, obtaining knowledge of suchness and the extent of suchness. With the discipline of benefiting sentient beings, one accomplishes the cause of perfect activity, and the two benefits are spontaneously accomplished. These are also stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: The six branches are peaceful and held by intention, abiding in the happy realms, practicing generosity, being a support, peaceful and without fear, possessing the accumulation of merit, knowing the nature of reality through symbols, those who abide in discipline possess. Having fully understood such discipline, the wise should truly practice it. Thus it is said. Among them, the one with six branches is stated in the Hearer's Ground: Abiding in discipline, restrained by the discipline of individual liberation, perfect in rituals, perfect in conduct, regarding even the slightest fault as a place of fear, properly taking up the bases of training and learning. Thus. The cause is the pacification of afflictions and the collection of fears, thereby obtaining the state of peaceful Nirvana. The result is abiding in the happy realms themselves, practicing generosity. The function is to become the support of the accumulation of merit and all qualities. The classification is stated in the Treasury: Discipline is called individual liberation, likewise, meditation arises from the uncontaminated. Thus, properly taking up what arises from symbols is individual liberation. What is obtained by the nature of reality is the two that arise from meditation and the uncontaminated, namely, obtaining the mind of actual meditation, and obtaining the uncontaminated noble ground such as the path of seeing. The qualities of such discipline are stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: The sons of the Buddhas, with discipline and diligence,

Always uphold the three precepts of self-nature. Do not desire the manifestation of heavenly realms, and even if attained, do not generate attachment to them. With these precepts, all beings can be placed in the three Bodhis. With the complete embrace of precepts and wisdom, they are inexhaustible in the world. As it is said. The wheel of discipline, the perfection of patience: On this ground of endurance, the sweet fragrance of Dharma flourishes and is well protected. Enduring hardships, and not fearing profound meanings, there are three types. The essence of patience is endurance, like the foundation of the Great Vehicle, bearing all aspects of conventional and ultimate Dharma with the power of wisdom, thus protecting the sacred Dharma. In terms of classification, as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: Endurance is inconceivable, because of compassion relying on the Dharma, five benefits are truly taught. Thus, whether for one's own benefit to achieve Buddhahood, or for the benefit of others to perform helpful deeds, for whatever reason, any great burden of hardship and suffering, one should gladly accept and endure, which is the patience of accepting hardships. Whether others directly or indirectly commit evil deeds or harm to oneself, one should extinguish anger and perfect the habituation of this mind, which is the patience of not thinking of harm. Not being robbed of the firm faith and understanding of the Dharma, and not generating fear of profound meanings, is the patience without an object of focus. The cause of these is great compassion, and the fruits are five, as stated in the sutra: Not increasing resentment, not increasing disputes, increasing happiness and mental joy, dying without regret, and after the body is destroyed, being reborn in the happy realms of the heavens. Thus, for beginners, the main focus is on cultivating the patience of extinguishing anger, and the way it is shown is: If the mind is extremely rigid, full of hatred, the manifestation of sin, with dark vines, those who fear falling into the hell of no liberation, never give anger any chance. Like a poisonous snake, the mindstream is hardened by hatred, and the result of sin is extremely dark, which is to make sentient beings experience the suffering of great hell.
