If one becomes accustomed to the acting wisdom, then the vows that have been established, which are dharmas with arising and ceasing, do not grasp at self-characteristics, and there is no gaining or losing. In the beginning, middle, and end, they do not abide in contradiction, and their essence is conventional truth, so the transformation of abode is accomplished. How it is accomplished will be explained in the context of the mantra vehicle. Even so, both the basis and the intention are endowed with manifestation. For the three vows practiced with faith, when abiding, abide in distinction; when guarding, guard with laxity; when possessing, possess increase; when correcting, from one's own ground, removing the deteriorated completely, therefore correction is accomplished. Why, when creating faults, does one prevent anything? When creating virtue and qualities, why does one grant permission? Granting and prohibiting do not abide on the path of words, but are accomplished in connection with the continuum of the individual. Therefore, most of those born in the final five hundred years have little learning, do not possess the wisdom of thought, and are separated from the suchness of meditation, so they are accustomed to seeing things as real and are accompanied by conceptualizations of characteristics, so the basis abides in their own continuum, and even if it is seized by an intention endowed with great means and wisdom, it becomes merely faith, so although they claim to possess the three vows, they consider themselves monks, and cling to purity and liberation in relation to worldly people, things, defilements, and so on, and combine superficial and great compassion and other means with inconceivable wisdom. If the qualities of the three vows are difficult to transform into the nature of increase and are suppressed, like being killed by poison without mantra, there is no fault. Because one must emphasize actions related to time, on the path of accumulation, with the vow of misconduct, on the path of application, with accumulating virtuous dharmas, and on the path of seeing, with the precept of benefiting sentient beings as the main practice, the scriptures also state that the temporary actions and the ultimate vows will undergo a transformation of abode, and recognizing this is great wisdom. Therefore, on the ground of practicing with faith, these three vows also, when abiding, abide in distinction; when guarding, guard with laxity; when possessing, possess increase; when correcting, one must also correct with the self-tradition of each philosophical system, which is established in meaning. As it says in the Pure Chariot: Like this, individual liberation is undertaken for as long as one lives, because it is not said that one should abandon it when one obtains mantra. The bodhisattva is undertaken until the essence of enlightenment, so it deteriorates when one obtains mantra.

Because it is not said to prevent the cause and the act of giving. Thus, in the three vows, the factors that generate faults and sins are prevented and restrained, but there is no prevention of generating merits. Therefore, it is very important to distinguish the magnitude of the power of each precept and the difference between permission and prohibition, general and special circumstances. As it is said in the "Garland of Jewels": "For the general situation, special exclusion is made, and all treatises praise it." Therefore, the precepts of the three vows are neither materially contradictory, nor like placing them in the same container, or like putting jewels in a container with cleaning function, etc., which are metaphors of things established by conceptualization. It should be understood that the principle of establishing a connection with the continuum of the individual. Thus, by taming the continuum with the discipline of the vows, one learns the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas. The six perfections and the two accumulations, generating unborn merits, increasing born merits, accumulating virtuous dharmas, the discipline is called the learning of the mind. The virtuous dharmas held by loving-kindness and compassion, wherever the benefit of sentient beings is accomplished, is giving. Without self-interest in this is discipline, and without fatigue for the benefit of others is patience. Especially, joyful practice is diligence, single-minded concentration on the benefit of sentient beings is meditation, and abandoning the attachment to reality and signs is wisdom. The six perfections are never separated. In all four postures, one has mindfulness and awareness, and the lifting and lowering of steps in the virtuous accumulation of completely pure conduct is also the path of the six perfections. Effortless and spontaneous practice quickly completes the accumulation of merit. Thus, all the dharmas that are the cause of Buddhahood are the six perfections, or their nature is encompassed by the two accumulations, hence it is called the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas. This is the principle of practicing based on the six minds. In the "Compendium," it is said: "A Bodhisattva who is diligent in the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas, in short, should individually observe the six minds. What are the six? They are the mind of contempt, having a lazy mind and a defiled mind, a mind that is completely tired of searching, and a mind that has obstacles." Thus, by separating from the minds that are not in harmony with each other, the virtuous dharmas are combined to mature one's own continuum.
