cannot be expressed. Compared to repaying kindness, each excellent mark possesses hundreds and thousands of supreme excellent marks. Furthermore, regarding the merit of all sentient beings and the distinctions of the Tathagata's names and marks, the same sutra states: 'If all the merit of sentient beings were gathered and piled together, it would only equal one pore of the Tathagata's body. If the merit of all the pores were gathered and piled together, it would only equal one excellent mark. If the merit of all the excellent marks were accumulated and multiplied by a hundred, it would equal one name, except for the white hair mark between the eyebrows and the invisible crown of the head. Apart from these two names, if all other names were multiplied by a thousand, they would equal the first two names. If the merit of the thirty-two marks and eighty minor marks were gathered and piled together and multiplied by a trillion, it would equal the Tathagata's voice, which is like the roar of a dragon, deep and far-reaching. From that sound, it is proclaimed in immeasurable, boundless, and inconceivable Buddha-fields as numerous as atoms, practicing loving-kindness and great compassion for the benefit of sentient beings, knowing and repaying kindness. This is inconceivable.' Such statements ultimately praise the excellent mark of speech, and it should be understood that speech is the nature of revealing the truth of cessation and the path, abiding in the nature of all things. Therefore, even ordinary beings bound by all fetters can recognize their parents in future lives, diligently practicing loving-kindness and repaying kindness. And the way to repay kindness is to place the unerring path they have attained, the supreme wheel of Dharma, on the unerring cause of attaining Buddhahood. Therefore, the nature of speech is all-pervasive. Thus, no matter how many sentient beings exist in the world, whether they are ordinary beings who are learning, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, or Bodhisattvas with great wisdom,

Even if various different questions are asked at the same time, it has the characteristic of answering with one voice that matches each person's disposition, faculties, capacity, and the order of merit. In the chapter of the Truthful One, it says: "Here, when many sentient beings simultaneously ask their definite questions, you comprehend their minds in a single moment of thought, and answer each of them with a single voice." And in the King of Samadhi Sutra, it says: "For the benefit of the world, from your one word, sounds arise according to different inclinations, and each one thinks, 'The Victorious One is teaching me.'" Thus, the reason for the definitive meaning is this: sound and words themselves do not have intrinsic existence, but rather, they become clear to the consciousness of individuals through the combination of the inclination of those to be tamed, the blessings of the Buddha, and the timely gathering of conditions. In the Inconceivable Secret Sutra, it says: "Shantimati (Peaceful Intelligence), when the Bhagavan said, 'Kauṇḍinya, the eye is impermanent,' those who were tamed by suffering heard, 'The eye is suffering.' Those who were tamed by selflessness heard, 'The eye is selfless.' Those who were tamed by emptiness heard, 'The eye is emptiness.' Those who were tamed by peace heard, 'The eye is peace.' Those who were tamed by solitude heard, 'The eye is solitude.' Those who were tamed by impermanence heard, 'The eye is impermanent.'" Therefore, in order to ultimately ascertain the definitive meaning, since the nature of the Buddha is the Dharmakaya, one should not regard the sounds and words that exist in speech and letters as having intrinsic existence. In the Ratnakuta Sutra, it says: "Shantimati, from the night he attained complete and perfect enlightenment until the night he passed into nirvana, I have not taught even a single word of Dharma." If one can understand the essence of this statement, then one's mental vision will expand towards the source and nature of the Dharma, which is like an ocean of the Buddha's teachings and treatises, as it says in the Uttaratantra: "Just as the sound of a lute arises from the consciousness of others, without conceptualization and without fabrication, so too the speech of the Tathagata arises from the consciousness of others, and does not abide within or without." To understand the meaning of this.
