If we explain the distinctions of the merits of remembering the Buddha from an external perspective, it is like this: The "Bhagavan" who is renowned in the world is so because he has conquered afflictions such as desire, or because he has conquered the hordes of demons who strived to obstruct him while he was dwelling at the Bodhi tree. Because he possesses extraordinary kalpas and mastery, he is "endowed." Although endowed, he has transcended all the faults of existence, such as craving and grasping. Because he has realized and comprehended the nature of things as they truly are, he is the "Tathagata," or because he speaks the truth and acts accordingly, without changing, he is also the "Tathagata." Arhat is so because he has conquered the enemy of afflictions. How does he conquer? He reaches the ultimate of the four fruits of a Shramana, which will be explained below. The Samyaksambuddha is so because he has abandoned all the afflictions of hundreds of thousands of Arhats connected by habitual tendencies, thus he is the perfectly enlightened Samyaksambuddha. Thus, the Tathagata is the Samyaksambuddha because he has completely awakened to all dharmas without error or inversion. As it is said in the "Seventy Verses on Refuge": Having awakened from the sleep of ignorance, and with wisdom also increasing, the Buddha blossoms like a lotus petal. Thus. Wisdom and feet, such as possessing discipline and samadhi, are why he is endowed with knowledge and conduct. Having gone to the place of no sorrow, beauty, and non-retrogression, he is the Sugata. Knowing the world means: fully knowing the twelve links of dependent origination of the sentient world, and similarly, unerringly knowing all the qualities and nature of the container world's formation, duration, destruction, and emptiness. In another way, it is known because he fully knows the good terms of the world, and it should be understood that this is contrary to the worldly knowledge of ordinary beings' nature and deceit. Those who can be tamed are individuals, and because they are tamed and guided, they are the guides of men. Because he surpasses the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, he is unsurpassed.

Therefore, it should be understood that the noble path is attained. Gods and humans are excellent beings in the higher realms and are also vessels for the noble path. Therefore, they are taught without distortion, and thus are teachers of gods and humans. Because they understand suchness, they are called Buddhas, the Bhagavat, using the term of the nature of non-self as a figure of speech, and concealing the final word. From the perspective of the mode of existence of the essence, the distinctions of qualities are explained as they are internally. Thus, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have abandoned all faults, that is, they have abandoned the afflictions of what is to be abandoned by seeing and what is to be abandoned by meditation, and all the obscurations of knowledge. Again, in another way, they have abandoned well, abandoned without returning, and abandoned without remainder, and therefore possess the qualities of the three abandonments. As the Lord of Knowledge said: "Having abandoned the cause, the Sugata possesses three qualities." And so on, as explained in detail. From the aspect of the perfection of qualities, there are the five eyes, the six superknowledges, the ten powers, the doors of dharani, the ten strengths, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, and so on. Among these, the eye of the Buddha, which is included in the five eyes, is the eye of all-knowing. The corresponding eye exists from the eighth ground onwards. The Dharma eye directly realizes all the sharp and dull faculties of the noble person. The wisdom eye directly sees the meaning of all phenomena being empty of their own nature. The divine eye knows the death and birth of beings as they are. The physical eye directly sees all subtle and coarse forms from a hundred yojanas up to three thousand great thousands of worlds. Among the six superknowledges, the superknowledge of miraculous powers is the ability to move the earth, transform into one and many, and so on. The superknowledge of the divine ear is the ability to know all the sounds, great and small, of all the world realms as they are. The superknowledge of knowing the minds of others is the direct determination of whether others' minds are free from afflictions or not. The superknowledge of remembering past lives is the ability to know hundreds of thousands of past lives of oneself and others. The divine
