The abandonment of gross transformations is called the path of joining. When that ground is first arising, the actual abandonment of the seed of that defilement is the path of no obstruction. From the second moment of that ground, those that have become the actual entity are the path of liberation. When special qualities are obtained at the entrance of the ground, and one is progressing to a higher ground, that is the path of distinction. The distinction of abandonment is that all that is to be abandoned by the path of seeing is abandoned. The gross parts of what is to be abandoned by the path of meditation are abandoned. Entering into the abandonment of the subtle parts. Thus, from abandonment, the distinction of the ten grounds is that they progress higher and higher. The distinction of holding the body is from the aspect of having the ability to hold those births. It is not the case that all the kings of those places are pervasive on those grounds of bodhisattvas, because individual ordinary beings have accumulated great merit, and in some cases, the Tathagata appears as that and that (identity), and also benefits sentient beings. Moreover, from the first ground onwards, one has obtained mastery over life. Although there is no self-characteristic birth and death, they are shown for the benefit of others, as it says in the Uttaratantra: "The noble ones have abandoned death, as well as sickness and old age, all sufferings. Born from the power of karma and afflictions, they do not have those, therefore they do not have those. Because they see reality as it is, they have transcended birth and so forth, but those who possess great compassion show birth, old age, sickness, and death." Fifth, the path of no more learning means that learning has reached its ultimate end, and there is no need to learn anymore. The common basis of the body, according to the Sravaka schools, is that enlightenment is attained from the Kshatriya or Brahmin caste of Jambudvipa. And at the time of the last existence, they are initially considered ordinary beings, as it says in the Abhidharmakosa: "Not a noble one, parents, and sick person, and preacher, and before the last birth of a bodhisattva." Although it says so, it is not literal. In the sutras it says: "The perfect Buddhas all in that Palace of Akanishta, joyful, All sins completely abandoned, There they attain enlightenment, emanations here." As it is said, according to the Mahayana view, what is the basis for attaining enlightenment in Akanishta? In the commentary on the Entering (the Bodhisattva's Way of Life) it also says: For whose benefit this effort is made, that unsurpassed wisdom is also of the Bhagavan in Akanishta.
