In order to increase that appearance, one strives to meditate on selflessness, thereby obtaining the intermediate appearance of worldly meditation-born. Patience is merely entering into one aspect of that, thereby obtaining the most excellent appearance of worldly meditation-born possessed by the Mind-Only school, becoming the antidote to attachment to general meanings. Supreme Dharma immediately follows that, being the perfection of worldly meditation-born without the distraction of clinging to meaning. It is the interval between the Mahayana Path of Seeing and others. Moreover, the two, Warmth and Peak, are called small, being the Path of Joining where the time of the arising of the Path of Seeing is uncertain. Patience is intermediate, being the Path of Joining where the Path of Seeing is certain to arise in the next life. Supreme Dharma is great, being the Path of Joining where the Path of Seeing is certain to arise in this life. This path has five characteristics that surpass the lower ones: Among the characteristics of antidotes, there are the antidote of refutation, the antidote of abandonment, the antidote of support, and the antidote of prolongation, and here the antidote of abandonment predominates. The characteristic of abandonment is liberation from the seeds of obscurations, the decline of manifest occurrences, and the poverty and decay of ordinary beings. The characteristic of realization is the realization of the two selflessnesses of the wisdom born of meditation. The characteristic of qualities is possessing many qualities such as samadhi, eyes, clairvoyance, and miracles. The characteristic of surpassing the Path of Accumulation is that the Great Path of Accumulation and the Path of Meditation are similar, but on the Path of Seeing, there is a difference in nearness and distance and in the stability or instability of the warmth of wisdom. The Great Commentary on the Eight Thousand Verses says, "If there are no obstacles, the Path of Seeing will occur very near," and it should be understood that this is a characteristic corresponding to the part of liberation. Third, because one directly sees the nature of reality, it is called the Path of Seeing, and its characteristic is "the eye of Dharma is without dust and free from defilement, completely pure," as explained in the Sutra Requested by Sagacious Intelligence, it is the Path of Seeing. "Extremely pure" is the wisdom of the eighth ground. The support of the body is any of the five realms of existence, and the support of the mind is the four dhyanas. Among them, the Dharma by which, when manifest, one obtains Nirvana, is the seven branches of enlightenment, the support of the Path of Seeing, namely, friends.

From the Clouds: "Mindfulness and discrimination of dharma, diligence and joy, serenity and samadhi, and equanimity, these seven are the limbs of enlightenment, the virtuous accumulation for attaining nirvana." Among these, mindfulness is not forgetting the object of focus. Discrimination of dharma is the wisdom that distinguishes the characteristics of the Great Vehicle's dharma-acceptance, dharma-knowledge, subsequent-acceptance, subsequent-knowledge, and their retinue. Diligence is being delighted in its nature. Joy is the mind's delight in that very object of focus. Serenity is the fitness of body and mind. Samadhi is the mind not straying from one-pointedness. Equanimity is the mind and mental factors abiding naturally and spontaneously accomplished. These seven dharmas are the limbs of enlightenment on the path of seeing, the unpolluted limbs of enlightenment, hence they are called limbs of enlightenment, thus explaining their retinue. The essence is liberation from the two aspects of the afflictive obscurations and the cognitive obscurations that are abandoned on the path of seeing, according to one's own capacity. The Middle Way Treatise states: "The obscuration of afflictions and the obscuration of knowledge are taught as two. All of their obscurations are exhausted, and when they are exhausted, it is considered liberation." Thus it is. Furthermore, the difference between the two obscurations, afflictive and cognitive, is explained in the Uttaratantra: "Conceptualizations such as miserliness are considered the obscuration of afflictions. Conceptualization of the three spheres is considered the obscuration of knowledge." Thus, whatever is unwholesome or unspecified that does not pacify the mind, such as miserliness, is an afflictive obscuration. Wholesome actions with attachment to the three spheres, or the nature of the unspecified that is unobscured, the conceptualization of grasping subject and object, related to object and subject, is a cognitive obscuration. Among these, all conceptually imputed afflictive obscurations are abandoned on the path of seeing, while those that are innate are abandoned on the path of meditation. Similarly, the coarse conceptualizations of grasping subject and object in cognitive obscurations are abandoned on the path of seeing, while the subtle ones are abandoned on the path of meditation. The categories are: whatever is conceptually imputed that becomes an obstacle to the path of seeing is the characteristic of what is abandoned on the path of seeing. The distinctions are: in terms of essence, there are desire, anger, pride, ignorance, and doubt. In terms of the way of engaging wrongly, there is the aggregates.
