The twelve branches, as stated in the Great Commentary on the Eight Thousand Verses: Sutra, prosody, prophecy, verse, cause, analogy, Jataka, such occurrence, wondrous, definitive category. The teachings have twelve branches. Thus it is. From the perspective of antidotes, there are three pitakas: The first five just mentioned are the Sutra Pitaka of the Hearers, the middle three are the Vinaya of the Hearers, and among the last four, the Jataka section is the retinue of the Bodhisattva Vinaya Pitaka, the very extensive and the wondrous are the Bodhisattva Sutra Pitaka, and the definitive section is established as the Abhidharma Pitaka common to both Hearers and Bodhisattvas. For the Pratyekabuddha, there is no separate pitaka, but it relies on the Hearer's pitaka. In summary, Vasubandhu said: The Sutra explains the three trainings, the Vinaya is the higher discipline and the higher mind, because those who have discipline gradually obtain samadhi through the sequence of non-regret, etc. The Abhidharma is the higher wisdom, because it shows the meaning without distortion. Thus it is said. These are also distinguished from the perspective of those to be tamed, and in terms of skillful means, the most excellent is the Vidyadhara Pitaka, as Acharya Aryadeva also said: Vidyadhara Pitaka. Thus, it is separated and established as the fourth pitaka, as in the Sutra Instructions: The three vehicles of guidance, the Bhagavan certainly taught, acting in spontaneous accomplishment of cause and effect, not seeking the Buddha from elsewhere, why is the definitive vehicle not taught? Thus, it is said. Thus, the four pitakas of the teachings are also from the aggregates of the owner's condition, from letters, letters assembled into names, names assembled into sentences, sentences assembled into books and dwelling, which is the basis of the vow of refuge. The Dharma of realization is from the establishment of mindfulness, gradually all the qualities of the five paths, the essence of the wisdom of the noble ones' abandonment and realization, generation and completion, dharani and exhaustion, the four paths of learning and the reality of the path of no more learning.

Etc. The ten grounds of cause, the thirteen of fruit, etc. The classifications of the Vajra Vehicle are immeasurable. Whose wisdom relies on the continuum. Therein, that which becomes the support of the qualities of realization is the ground, as stated in the Great Commentary on the Eight Thousand: Because it becomes the support of qualities, it is the ground. Thus it is said. It can also be determined as the eight grounds of Hearers and Solitary Realizers and the ten grounds of Bodhisattvas. The former, in the Middle Mother Sutra, says: The ground of lineage, the eighth ground, the ground of seeing, the ground of attenuation, the ground of detachment from desire, the ground of accomplished realization, the ground of Hearers, and the ground of Solitary Buddhas. These are the grounds of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Thus, and in the Garland of Jewels, it is said: How in the Hearer Vehicle, the Hearer ground is taught as eight, likewise in the Great Vehicle, the Bodhisattva ground is ten. Thus it is said. The further support of the ground is definitely the five paths themselves, so here they are sequentially stated from the Path of Accumulation. Therein, the first, mainly engaging in the accumulation of hearing, thinking, and merit, is the characteristic of the Path of Accumulation. Also, in the lesser Path of Accumulation, there are four mindfulnesses, of which the mindfulness of body is: in equipoise like the sky, and in post-equipoise, contemplate impurity and illusion. The mindfulness of feeling is: not arising in equipoise, and in post-equipoise, whatever is felt is suffering, and contemplate it as being without essence like water and wood. The mindfulness of mind is: emptiness by nature in equipoise, and in post-equipoise, contemplate it as not ceasing and not abiding. The mindfulness of phenomena is: equality in equipoise, and in post-equipoise, contemplate it as the eight similes of illusion. Thus, by cultivating the four mindfulnesses in the lesser Path of Accumulation, the way to enter the four truths of the Path of Seeing is also: first, by knowing the body as suffering, one enters into knowing suffering. Second, by knowing feeling as suffering, one enters into abandoning the origin. Third, by contemplating the mind as impermanent, one manifests the cessation that prevents the clinging to permanence. Fourth, by contemplating phenomena as selfless, one turns away from clinging to self and enters into cultivating the path. In the Path of Accumulation, unwholesome dharmas that have not arisen are not generated, those that have arisen are cut off from the continuum, wholesome dharmas that have not arisen are generated, and those that have arisen are increased.
