Thus it is. If that dependent arising which arises according to the order is reversed, then birth will cease. When birth ceases, aging and death, and so forth, this great mass of suffering will also cease. Likewise, when birth ceases, existence also ceases, and when ignorance ceases, actions also cease. Ignorance is: although the sutras teach about "not knowing the limits of the past," etc., in reality, not knowing the truth of the self-aware wisdom of each individual is the ultimate ignorance. The virtuous, non-virtuous, and unwavering actions associated with that childish ignorance are the actions conditioned by ignorance. As it says in the Root Wisdom Treatise: "Because ignorance obscures, there is rebirth. These three kinds of actions manifestly perform whatever actions, they go to the realms of those actions." That is to say, according to whatever actions are performed, one goes to any corresponding realm, and the consciousness that arises there is consciousness. In the sutras, it is taught from the perspective of showing the cause through the result, so it is said that consciousness is the six consciousnesses. The ripening consciousness does not reveal its own nature through subtlety, but rather reveals the result. When that consciousness enters its destination, it enters into the part where sperm, blood, wind, and mind are combined. From the moment when actions cause name and form to manifest and be accomplished in a certain order, that very order becomes the condition. Therefore, it is explained from name and form conditioned by consciousness to feeling conditioned by contact. Name and form are: from the moment of conception in the mother's womb, feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness, the four non-form aggregates, are name, and they combine with the appropriate form that has the elements as its cause. Among these, the four aggregates themselves are name because they tend towards objects and lead to rebirth. The form that has the elements as its cause is form because it produces changes such as heat and cold. As name and form gradually develop, the stage of the gradual birth of eyes, ears, and so on is
