The knowing that acts, the unborn emptiness that is free from the three of arising, ceasing, and abiding. The latter is realized by the Mahayana, so the Hearers and Solitary Realizers do not realize it, therefore half a sound is added to the selflessness of phenomena. Both types of Solitary Realizers teach the Dharma through bodily gestures, but do not teach through speech. Furthermore, for both Hearers and Solitary Realizers, eight inferior grounds such as the white kasina are taught. Based on that, there are Stream-enterers, Once-returners, Non-returners, and Arhats. Each is divided into two, those who have entered and those who abide, so they are also known as the eight great persons in order or the four pairs and eight individuals. For Bodhisattvas, it is said that even in the ten grounds such as the Joyful Ground, there are four fruits of the ascetic, and so on, which is the excellent establishment of the system of the Second Buddha. Among them, Arhat is the fruit of possessing two wisdoms, namely, knowing the exhaustion and non-arising. Thus, when those Arhats of Hearers and Solitary Realizers pass away without remainder, they abide in the realm of cessation. Although our own tradition considers it to be permanent and unmoving, if measured by the Mahayana, for the duration of time that the accumulations of merit have been gathered, the activity of the mind dissolves into peace, and then in the pure lands such as Sukhavati, they take birth in the bud of a lotus, and by the power of the imprints of ignorance and the subtle obscurations of knowledge, they remain with the lotus closed for seven years. By the power of the compassion of the Buddhas of that field, the lotus opens, and when awakened from that samadhi, joy arises in entering the Mahayana, and by meditating on the path, they attain Buddhahood in that very lifetime. As it says in the White Lotus Sutra: 'Until when will those Hearers, when the Buddhas have not urged them, at that time, with only one consciousness body, remain intoxicated and fainting in samadhi? Having been urged, with various forms, they will arise with attachment to the welfare of sentient beings, accumulate the collections of merit and wisdom, and attain the enlightenment of Buddhahood.' In accordance with this, it is also taught in the Lankavatara Sutra. Such an obstacle to attaining Nirvana is said to be the fourteen undeclared things in the world, namely: the world is permanent, the world is impermanent, the world is both permanent and impermanent,

It is neither permanent nor impermanent; the world has an end, the world has no end; it both has an end and has no end; it is neither with an end nor without an end; the Thus-Gone-One exists after death, the Thus-Gone-One does not exist after death, the Thus-Gone-One both exists and does not exist after death, the Thus-Gone-One is neither existent nor non-existent after death; life is the same as the body, life is different and the body is different. These fourteen things, if asked, should not be answered, because they cannot calm the mind, so they should not be contemplated. The Suhrllekha says: "The fourteen unrevealed things in the world, what are those well-spoken by the Kinsman of the Sun? One should not contemplate those things, for they do not pacify this mind." Thus it is. Then, by contemplating what will all the factors conducive to enlightenment arise? These twelve links of dependent origination show that the Victorious One is a speaker of truth, and is the treasury for establishing all tenets and realities of the Dharma. Ignorance is the root of all phenomena, from which arise actions, consciousness, name and form; from which arise the six sense spheres, from which arise contact, from which arise feeling; from which arise craving, from craving arises grasping; from which arises existence, from existence arises birth; if there is birth, then there is a lack of desirable pleasures, and because of sorrow, old age, death, etc., a very large aggregate of suffering is established; the cessation of birth causes all to cease, the profound cause and effect of dependent origination is the treasury of the Victorious One's truthful words. Having said this, conditioned by ignorance is action, conditioned by action is consciousness, conditioned by consciousness is name and form, and so on, conditioned by birth is old age, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, distress, and all the great mass of suffering arises, therefore the Suhrllekha says: "Birth is not good, birth is a vessel of many harms, know this." and so on.
