Although Rahula and others strived to destroy the gods, Indra was able to grasp with his left hand the chariot made of fine wood, which was seven yojanas high and moved swiftly. The Mount Meru that they hurled was shattered into pieces by Indra's vajra and fell into the Sea of Blood, causing many creatures to die, and the Sea of Blood turned red. At that time, the gods, except for their heads being severed, could immediately regenerate any other severed limbs without any wounds. The Asuras, however, would die like humans if struck in a vital spot. Even so, since the Vedas state that Ketu's body is severed, it is not appropriate to apply this reasoning to other Asuras. At that time, the earth shook, and the mountains of weapons turned to dust, causing the sky, including Jambudvipa, to be covered in dust. The light of armor gleamed, and a great sound roared.

The merits of victory are manifested as rainfall in the world, good harvests, and the absence of disease and conflict, among other things. If the Asuras win, the opposite of these things will occur, so one should always have faith in the law of karma. Generally, the gods mostly win through the power of merit. When they are temporarily defeated in the world due to the cause of engaging in non-virtuous deeds, the Asura armies flee towards the peak of Mount Meru. The gates of the city of Delightful View are closed, and the windows are covered. After dwelling for seven days, the great drum of the gods sounds from the sky: 'The gods will be victorious! The Asuras will be defeated! Drive away the animals!' As soon as this sound occurs, the Asura armies scatter. At that time, the wives look into Lake Kunaln and see reflections of their husbands being killed, and they weep and suffer. When the Asuras are defeated, they flee towards the hollow of Mount Meru, reaching the golden ground. The hosts of the divine armies pursue them and close the gates of the golden city, also blocking the windows. After seven days have passed, they hear the sound, 'May the Asuras be victorious! May the gods be defeated!' and the gods return to their own abodes. Thus, when fighting with other factions, one hears sounds like hair being scattered in the center of the sky, and a rain of weapons falls, colliding high and low. The light of the gods' splendor and a great whirlwind of projectiles are heard. Those with little power faint and fall, experiencing fear like their hearts are breaking, the suffering of being driven from their own abodes again, and the suffering of those whose heads and limbs are severed, with no hope of survival. Their own armies also fight and quarrel, and constantly seeing the bliss and prosperity of the Thirty-Three (Trayastrimsa heaven), they have no peace of mind due to anger and jealousy. Although some may have the wisdom to discern between good and non-good, they do not attain the path of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers because of the obscurations of that realm's existence. Therefore, the Protector Nagarjuna said: The Asuras, although by nature are also gods, suffer greatly from minds that hate the glory of the gods. Although they possess intelligence, they do not see the truth because of the obscurations of their realm.

So! Thus it is said. Although that is so, the treasury of the Great Vehicle is inconceivable. At that time, when this category of Dharma was expounded, gods, nagas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, great belly-crawlers, and countless others, in all those dharmas, obtained the Dharma-eye, free from dust and defilement. As it is said in the Ratnakuta Sutra. The cause and effect of being born there is also as it is said in the chapter on the Asuras: Always practicing deceit and trickery, not committing sins, delighting in fighting and giving, that one becomes an Asura lord. Thus it is said. Now, explaining the suffering of humans. The suffering of suffering, the suffering of change, and the suffering of conditioning, these are the three great fundamental sufferings. Birth, old age, sickness, death, meeting with enemies, separation from loved ones, not getting what one wants, and the five aggregates of grasping holding the nature of suffering, constantly tormented in eight ways. In order to explain the suffering of suffering, life is like a water bubble, floating and unstable, people's hearts are unhappy and disturbed, etc., the previous suffering brings about the later suffering, like a leper's wound getting a new sore. Thus, wise people, if compared to the previous Good Aeon, or compared to other humans with unpleasant sounds, this Jambudvipa, the essence of life in this present period, is as impermanent as a water bubble, and even the suffering of natural sadness cannot be escaped, let alone the superposition of many sufferings such as sudden illnesses, demonic obstacles, enemies, and the calamities of earth, water, fire, and wind. Even so, most people do not suffer because they have not thought deeply, so even if they do not see the suffering of the next life, it is like a person tormented by illness who is destined to be devoured by wild beasts, or like a leper's wound with added sores. The suffering of change is: In the garden of perfect higher qualities, eating poisonous food with the taste of desire, causing the body to be scarred and difficult to endure pain. All that is obtained like a magic trick is subject to change. Whichever man, playing and singing in a garden or pavilion, etc.
