And, just by making a respectful prostration to a stupa, it is said that one will be reborn as an unimaginable wheel-turning king, as stated in the scriptures. As the scriptures say: Even for small virtues, one should not despise them thinking they are useless. By accumulating drops of water, a large vessel will gradually be filled. Similarly, an example of the growth of non-virtue is: In the teachings of Buddha Kashyapa, a bhikshu spoke impure words with malicious intent to his fellow bhikshus, and as a result, worms were born in his excrement and urine bag. Similarly, there are the stories of Golden God, Golden Staff, and Elephant Protector from the Wise and Foolish Sutra, and from the Vinaya-vastu, the story of the field-keeper Delight, and the frog, swan, fish, five hundred turtles, five hundred pretas, the farmer, and five hundred oxen that he struck with his staff. It is said: Even for small sins, one should not despise them thinking they are harmless. A tiny spark can burn a pile of grass as big as a mountain. In general, the Great Vehicle and the Small Vehicle have large and small causes and effects. Although the Small Vehicle has small causes and effects, in the past, a bhikshuni called other bhikshunis of the same kind "bitch," and just because of this small verbal offense, she was born as a dog five hundred times. The Great Vehicle has great causes and effects, as stated in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: If someone generates malicious thoughts towards such a prince benefactor, then for as many times as the malicious thoughts are generated, they will dwell in hell for that many eons, as the Buddha said. Defaming the Dharma and special individuals of the Great Vehicle, and generating malicious thoughts, etc., even a small downfall of a Bodhisattva will cause suffering for many eons. In general, the magnitude of the results of these actions depends entirely on the good or bad motivation of the doer. It is said: If there is no doer, there is no self-nature. Motivation dyed with black and white colors makes the action and its result powerful. Without preparation and subsequent actions, the power is small. Thus, the ripening of virtuous and non-virtuous actions, whether heavy or light, depends entirely on the intention. Intention driven by strong afflictions.

If initiated from (this perspective), even if one has not actually committed small sins, one will experience great retribution, and it is not from the time of creation that one has focused and accumulated for that purpose for a long time. Afterwards, if one suppresses the mind of the sins committed with a strong sense of remorse, then the power will be small. Similarly, what all Buddhists call "right view," that is, those who do not believe in the existence of the next life, and do not trust the certainty or infallibility of karmic results, even if they listen, think, and practice the three, and perform virtuous deeds such as giving, due to the wrong view of not believing in cause and effect, the retribution will be reversed. As it says in the "Letter to a Friend": "If you wish to attain higher realms and liberation, you should diligently practice the path of true right view. Even if one performs virtuous deeds with wrong views, it will become an extremely evil result." Some people apply the meaning of right view only to the ultimate truth, but because the retribution here is related to higher realms, it is a worldly right view. The Blessed One said: "Those who have worldly right view, they will never fall into the lower realms even after thousands of kalpas." This is very clear. Those who have great faith in cause and effect can generate great results even from small causes of merit, which is an example of the importance of motivation. In the past, a monk begged for alms from a householder, and the householder said: "If you are an Arhat, I will offer, otherwise I am not willing." The monk said: "I am not an Arhat." Then he left. Later, the householder thought, he is so humble, he must be an Arhat, so he said to the monk: "Please come back." Whether you are an Arhat or not, please speak the Dharma honestly, and then he offered to him, thus obtaining the merit of offering to an Arhat. Therefore, good and bad motivation is the only driver, and the form of good and evil does not depend on the size of the power. As the verse says: "If the root is medicine, then the sprout is also medicine, if the root is poison, then what need is there to say about the sprout, good and non-good motivation is the driver, the image of good and evil does not follow the size." Through the combination of metaphor and meaning, if the motivation is completely pure, then the actions of body and speech will temporarily appear in other forms.
