All the characteristics of being able and unable to be subdued are clearly revealed like images in a mirror. Those places are vast and beautifully shaped, adorned all around with golden fences and jeweled spires. Beyond that, there are four excellent lands with the same names and arrangements, namely the place called "Variety," the place called "Mixture," the place called "Rough Change," and the place called "Joy." The dimensions and arrangements of those places are similar to gardens, with walking areas and seats of equal size in between, pleasant and straight. All the roads leading between the city, gardens, and lands are beautifully shaped and smooth to walk on, sprinkled with sandalwood water. They are filled with tame horses, elephants, and vehicles, among other mounts. Among those mounts, the elephant, the son of the earth guardian, whose body is a thousand yojanas, is said to be an emanation from the perspective of mindfulness. The best horse is the horse with the power of clouds. Those crossroads are also covered with various kinds of flowers, such as lotuses and large lotuses. The ponds are filled with water birds making pleasant sounds, and there are trees everywhere that produce cotton for clothing and various kinds of flowers. In the northeast of that excellent city, there is a place where the gods gather, a tree called "All Gathering Place Breaking Through," which sprouted from the earth of Mount Meru. Its trunk rises a hundred yojanas upwards, and its branches spread in four directions, filled with leaves, flowers, and fruits. All the tops are rounded like umbrellas, from which hang nets of jewels and the garments of the gods, illuminating the directions with light. The fragrant scent pervades a hundred yojanas. Beneath that tree, any enjoyment that the gods think of in their minds immediately appears. Beside that tree, there is a stone slab as white as an amonika jewel, fifty yojanas wide, beautifully shaped, and decorated with a hundred colors, its surface smooth and soft, sinking when pressed and springing back when lifted. All around it are trees, flowers, clothes, jewels, ornaments, musical instruments, nectar, foods of a hundred flavors, various vehicles, multi-storied buildings, and many sons and daughters of the gods playing, singing, and dancing.

On that land, the mandara flowers almost covered up to the knees, and in the center was the throne of Indra, surrounded by the thrones of other gods. Even if there were few gods gathered, it did not appear spacious; even if there were many gods, it did not appear crowded. The Thirty-three Gods gather there in the first month of summer, enjoying the pleasures of the five desires. To the southwest of that city called 'Looking Delightful' is the Good Dharma Hall, the assembly place of the gods. The circumference is completely round, and in the center of the nine hundred yojanas circumference, there are octagonal pillars made of beryl, the tips of the pillars are only a hair's breadth away from touching the foundation of the building, supporting the jewel palace called 'Accomplishing All Purposes,' which radiates hundreds of thousands of rays of light. The gods there protect their own rule, gather to accomplish correct affairs, and gather for the benefit of sentient beings, it is a place to decide what should and should not be done, therefore it is called the assembly place. The layout of those places and other dimensions and structures are very detailed, but I have not explained them for fear of too many words. Thus, these two god realms of the desire realm are dependent on the ground. As for the abodes of the four desire realm gods who dwell in the sky, they are formed from the virtuous causes of meritorious deeds mixed with outflows, resulting in four desire realm god abodes that are not connected to the ground, namely: the Heaven of No Strife, the Joyful Heaven, the Heaven of Enjoying Emanations, and the Heaven of Controlling Others' Emanations. The palaces of these gods are like stars scattered in the sky above the Thirty-three Heavens. The area is twice that of the Thirty-three Heavens, and the Heaven of No Strife is the same, it should be known that the higher the heaven, the area increases by a factor of two. The demon king Delightful Autonomy and his retinue also belong to the Heaven of Controlling Others' Emanations, and it is a special place. Apart from these, the other Asuras also belong to the desire realm, their bodies, miraculous powers, enjoyments, and the nature of desires are similar to the gods, but because their lineage and fortune are different, they are called Asuras. The reason for being born there is that the good and bad deeds of previous lives are mixed together, causing beings to be cast into whatever realm, the karma that accomplishes birth, and the accumulation of various karmas that lead to the completion of happiness and suffering, etc., these are the reasons that are drawn by the karma of being born as a hungry ghost.
