Mount Sumeru relies on everything in front of it. The sentient beings that rely on the earth are formed from the bottom up. Among them, there are two types: the lower realms and the higher realms. The first of the lower realms, hell, is located twenty thousand yojanas below Mount Kailash, and is the place of the great suffering Avīci hell for sentient beings. The iron chamber is twenty thousand yojanas in length and width. To the east are the Dhritarashtra, to the south are the Virudhaka, to the west are the Nagas, and to the north are surrounded by the Yaksha races, possessing immeasurable wealth, enjoyments, gardens, and so forth. Halfway up Mount Meru, level with the summit of Yugandhara Mountain, are the cities of the gods of the sun, moon, planets, and stars, like containers. The mandala of the sun is fifty-one yojanas, and its circumference is three times that. The base is made of fire crystal, so it is very hot and blazing with light. The mandala of the moon is fifty yojanas, and its circumference is three times that. The base is made of water crystal, so it is cool and white in color. The width of both is six and a half yojanas and one-eighteenth of a yojana, located above. The area above the sun is well surrounded by a golden fence, and the moon by a silver fence, with pavilions of four kinds of jewels and so forth, complete with qualities. Within those two are the sun god and the moon's city, made of four kinds of jewels, filled with gods and goddesses, making them happy. The stars are made of water crystal, and the upper part is surrounded by a golden fence. There are good lands and roads, along with the cities of the gods. Some stars have gold, copper, and various shapes. The larger ones are six leagues, and the smaller ones are one league. Some believe that the larger stars are eighteen leagues. The second place of the desire gods is above Mount Meru, with the unmixed places of near power, and the assembly place of the good Dharma gods, etc. In the Thirty-Three, there are mainly thirty-two near power holders, plus the king of the gods and three roots, so it is called the Thirty-Three. There, there is a city of the gods called "Delightful to See," made of gold and surrounded by a golden fence. In the center is the palace of "Complete Victory," each side of which is two hundred and fifty yojanas, and the width is seven yojanas. The inner pillars, stairs, and columns are made of four kinds of jewels. The pillars, capitals, beams, and eaves are made of various jewels, adorned with jewel nets and hanging strands. That palace has eight balconies, and each has seven stacked pavilions, and each of those has dwellings.
