The light of the Buddha's compassion shines, possessing the seed of liberation for a long time, therefore it is called a special human body. As it is said in the "Letter to a Friend": Whoever constantly indulges in the wheel of samsara, merely content with dwelling within it, that person will surely gradually, involuntarily, wander among hundreds and thousands of equal and unequal beings. Equal refers to gods and humans, unequal refers to the lower realms. Secondly, in general, wandering in the six realms, especially from the unfavorable conditions of leisure and endowment, afflictions, suffering, and conceptual thoughts create discord, not giving the opportunity to do good, wandering in the eight situations, it shows that there is no opportunity to practice Dharma. As it is said: The lost mind falls again from here, the three lower realms and the unconscious heavens, the borderlands are incomplete, wrong views, wandering where no Buddha appears. From the perspective of nomenclature, the eight unfree states of one's own continuum, the eight unfree states due to sudden causes, and the eight unfree states of a mind with severed views. First, what is actually taught is, as it is said in the "Letter to a Friend": Holding wrong views and animals, hungry ghosts and hellish births, places where there is no teaching of the Victorious Ones, born in borderlands as barbarians, foolish, mute, and long-lived gods, wherever one is born, are called the eight faults of unfree states. Among the eight bases of one's own continuum, the first is hell. As it is said: Not seeking a moment of leisure, on the ground of burning iron, with weapons brutally cutting and killing, again and again, hell beings who cannot die even if their lives are taken, are still bound by the net of evil deeds of anger. As it is said, those who have become hell beings are tormented by severe suffering such as being cut and killed by weapons on the ground of burning iron, without rest or a slight chance to relax, and are still bound by the net of anger, and their lifespan is immeasurable, so there is no leisure to rely on the Dharma. Similarly, hungry ghosts are tormented by poverty, suffering from the burning of internal organs, animals eat each other, and hunters use traps, cages, and nets, etc.

Being squeezed, expertly using weapons to take lives, piercing noses, harming with iron hooks, binding with ropes, etc., unable to endure the suffering of being tamed, presenting a state of not being at leisure, and not even finding places for pus and blood to drain. What need is there to mention the suffering of the impoverished pretas? Upon seeing rivers and trees, they immediately become greedy. The suffering of burning internal organs cannot be exhausted. Due to the power of obscurations, there is no certainty of lifespan. Animals eat each other, hunters cruelly set traps to take lives, and suffering from being tamed for exploitation, what is the use of being born in such a place? This is a summary of the meaning. Furthermore, extending life with extremely long lifespans, the formless gods who do not distinguish opportunities for sadness, and the gods without consciousness whose basis for hearing and thinking is interrupted, holding wrong views at the time of death, are not at leisure. Therefore, the unconscious and formless gods, although they live long lives, are not at leisure because the basis for hearing and thinking is interrupted. Although the situation of the two-legged is well demonstrated, their consciousness is not virtuous. Those barbarians who are bound and controlled wander in extremely chaotic forests. It is said that although some appear in the form of humans, like the people of water and forests, their nature is like that of animals. They are more skilled in evil deeds than animals, and are malicious and conscious barbarians. They have become a non-virtuous basis for the Dharma, therefore their consciousness is not at leisure. Those who have broken the vows of the senses, the mutes, even if they meet the guide of the noble ones, are like the clamor held by a rock, unable to communicate, lamenting in the vast wilderness. Thus it is taught that those who are verbally mute and cannot communicate language, or mentally mute and cannot communicate meaning, even if they become like brothers or friends with the guide of the noble ones, are like mixing stones and words, with no meaning at all, therefore they do not possess a basis. Having obtained the great ship to cross the ocean of birth, and the waving banner of intelligence, they are not pleased with the coming of the Buddha, and those who hold such wrong views are tormented by demons. Those who have complete senses and are intelligent and discerning are not pleased with the coming of the Buddha.
