Now, those non-Buddhists who hold wrong views, such as thinking there is no afterlife, are without leisure. The eon abandoned by the Buddhas, falling into a dark abyss, even if striving to rise again, is not the right path, but the norm. In a miserable fall, going from bad to worse. Thus it is taught: When the Buddha came into the world, there was also the light of the teachings, therefore it is called the Eon of the Lamp. When that light disappears, it is the Eon of Darkness. At that time, even if one obtains a human body, like a person who has fallen into a deep ravine and broken their legs, they can only go from bad to worse, unable to be liberated, therefore it is a time without leisure. Second, the eight kinds of lack of leisure due to sudden circumstances. In the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel, it says: The five poisons are in turmoil, foolishness and ignorance are seized by demons, the lazy, the ocean of bad karma erupts, controlled by others, fearing protection, pretending to be Dharma, these are the eight kinds of lack of leisure due to sudden circumstances. Not a vessel for the path of liberation, completely reversed. Therefore, merely in appearance, having escaped the eight places of lack of leisure in one's own continuum, and being born in a land where one can practice the Dharma, but, the five poisons are coarse, combining the continuum with non-virtue; one's own continuum is foolish and ignorant, controlled by sinful friends; encountering evil spiritual friends, leading to completely reversed views and actions; having only a little interest in the Dharma, but being completely lazy without diligence; the ocean of bad karma erupting, not knowing how to transform it into the path, being controlled by obstacles; having faith in the Dharma, but body and speech being controlled by others; fearing food, clothing, or taxes, entering the Buddhist gate but spending time with unlawful conduct; one's mind being contrary to the Dharma, but pretending to be Dharma in front of others, seeking gain, respect, and fame. Third, the eight kinds of lack of leisure due to mental distraction. As mentioned before: being bound by wealth, possessions, and relatives, behavior being extremely bad, not being weary of samsara, having no faith at all, not doing good deeds, creating sins, having no interest in the Dharma, breaking vows and commitments, these are called the eight kinds of lack of leisure due to mental distraction. Being far from the Dharma, the lamp of the path of liberation is extinguished. Therefore, attachment to wealth, possessions, and relatives is very strong, character is bad, and behavior is improper.

Like an irremovable poisonous snake, no matter how much one hears or sees the faults of lower realms and samsara, the mind of renunciation never arises; regarding faith, the gateway to perceiving the Dharma, there is not even a sesame seed's worth; the three doors are not subdued, and one spends time solely with misdeeds; one does not think at all about the sacred Dharma, its qualities, and virtuous actions, like a dog seeing a temple; even if one enters the Dharma, the Pratimoksha vows are broken and the Bodhisattva vows are impaired, or having received the four empowerments, one despises the guru and vajra brothers, etc., breaking the samaya. If one does not properly examine these two sets of eight, merely having become a human is only a temporary respite, and it is difficult to be a suitable basis of leisure for practicing the Dharma. In particular, most of those who follow the Dharma or those whose actions are reversed are very far from the Dharma and turn their backs on the path of liberation. In the Nirvana Sutra, it says: 'Son of good family, after the Tathagata has completely passed into nirvana, internal strife and the destruction of countries will occur. In that evil time, due to the calamity of famine, most will become monks and shave their heads. They will expel the monks' discipline, rituals, qualities, and perfect conduct.' In the Supreme Samadhi Sutra, it says: 'From five hundred to eight hundred years, my close attendants will wear the clothes of householders, raise cattle, sheep, cats, donkeys, and horses, and store up a lot of grain. They will rely on their own labor, eat for themselves, and also raise male and female servants. At that time, one in a thousand thousands will obtain the four fruits of a Shramana. From eight hundred to one thousand years, my close attendants will learn sinful Dharma, serve kings, princes, ministers, and patrons, and even deceive each other with letters, plow and dig fields, store up a lot of grain, gold and silver, and the seven precious things, eat meat and drink alcohol, wear fancy clothes like prostitutes, and engage in seduction and song and dance.' It also says: 'After one thousand years, there will be great strife, and my close attendants, although wearing Dharma robes, will be like hanging a banner on a tree,'
