And, no path, no wisdom, no attainment, and no non-attainment. Thus. Also, from the *Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra*: 'The unborn is the one true reality, but fools speak of four truths. Having entered the essence of bodhi, if even one truth is not established, how can there be four?' Thus. Similarly, dependent origination is also unestablished in that the dependent dharmas do not meet each other. Because ignorance is cut off, actions and continuity are severed. Because consciousness entering the womb is prevented, name and form are also absent. The six sense bases are absent because the power to generate consciousness is prevented. Contact, feeling, craving, grasping, and so on, are also prevented by relying on the false generalities. Therefore, from the *Mother Sutra*: 'All things that dependently arise are completely empty of inherent existence.' Thus. Although this is so, as an antidote to being deluded about cause and effect, knowing that desirable and undesirable results arise based on virtuous and non-virtuous actions, one strives to adopt and abandon. However, one merely views dependent origination as being unestablished in its own nature. Therefore, even those arhats who abide in cessation in the path of the Hearers will ultimately generate bodhicitta and enter the Great Vehicle's path of accumulation from a small beginning, actualize the five paths that are in accordance with it, and enter nirvana, and all will be transformed into the nature of the Tathāgata. As the *Nirvana Sutra* says: 'Arhats also enter complete nirvana and abide in cessation, and after ten thousand eons, they generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment.' Thus. When generating the mind in this way and practicing the path, because of the habit of the former evil thought of seeking only peace, it obstructs the purification of the Buddha-fields and the completion of the accumulation for ripening sentient beings. Therefore, although a bodhisattva who is a beginner and one who generates the mind for the first time generate the mind at the same time, the generation of the mind by Hearers and Solitary Realizers is delayed by forty eons. As the *Ornament of the Sutras* says: 'These two repeatedly, because their own minds constantly arise, for the sake of manifesting the joy of nirvana, they are said to offer conceptualization.' That is, the mind that repeatedly renounces samsara and desires to quickly enter nirvana is what differentiates a bodhisattva from one who generates the mind for the first time. *The Treasury of Precious Qualities*.

From the text called "Rain of Joy": This is the explanation of the fourth chapter, which concerns the connection between cyclic existence and the collection of suffering, the benefits of liberation, and the stages of the path for a person of intermediate capacity. Explanation of the Fifth Chapter: Now, in order to show the four great wheels at the beginning of the path of the Great Vehicle, the path of the supreme person, the entrance to omniscience: Rely on places that are harmonious. By attending to a noble person, one obtains qualities. With good aspirations and the desire for the refuge of merit, the Dragon King said, "These are the four great wheels." This statement is a brief instruction. Just as the path traveled by cattle and elephants for many days and nights is cut short in an instant by the journey of a chariot lifted by the mechanism of four wheels, so too, bodhisattvas traveling on the chariot of the noble path must possess four great wheels in order to travel to the state of omniscience. What are the four? A harmonious place is one where the mind is equally settled, there is no disharmony, and it is free from the fear of harm. Relying on a noble person means distinguishing oneself by the qualities of being rich in scripture or perfect in realization. Likewise, whether as a guru or a friend, one should be trustworthy, skilled in speech, tolerant of words, and able to explain profound meanings, since words are the source of all faults and qualities. As it is said in the Letter to a Friend: The Victorious Ones have declared three kinds of words: those that please the heart, those that are true, and those that are like honey, flowers, and filth to those who speak falsely. Abandon the last of these. That is, pleasant words are like honey, entering the heart, and true words are like flowers, worthy of praise, possessing both. False words are to be blamed, like filth, dwelling on the abandoned lower words. If one then trains, morality, learning, generosity, and wisdom will increase, and one will turn away from what is not the place. Such a person is called a noble person. Good aspiration means accomplishing well through doing as one has said. Desiring the refuge of merit means having accumulated collections from previous lives up to the present. Thus said the Lord of the Nagas: Harmonious places.
