Not harming glory and power, names and marks, the source of all such as the ten powers and four fearlessnesses, whoever hears the letter of fame, also combines past events to show the meaningful way. As it says in the Wish-Fulfilling Vine: A merchant named Great Wealth, once appeared in Varanasi. His family was fortunate, named Jewel-Possessed. When she became the fifth husband, that woman respectfully offered a large necklace at the top of the stupa. By the power of the ripening of merit, she became the daughter of the king of Simhala (Sri Lanka), named Pearl Vine. In another life, she became arrogant and ignorant due to wealth, slandered offerings and became naked, so she became a maidservant for a long time. Whatever good and bad deeds are sown by beings in the field of birth. As it is said, in the Shakya family, a maidservant named Rohita died and became the daughter of the king of Simhala, named Pearl Vine. By the power of her merit, the merchants of Shravasti went to sea and arrived in Simhala. At the end of the night, when they had the opportunity to rest, they sang the verses spoken by the Buddha. The princess heard it and asked the merchants the reason. They said that this is the Buddha's teaching. She only heard the name of the Buddha, like a peacock hearing the thunder of a dragon, but she did not know the nature of the Buddha, so she asked again. Those merchants spoke of the nature of merit and the way of the Bhagavan's behavior. Therefore, she obtained greater joy than before, and offered a letter of supplication to the Bhagavan. The All-Knowing Bhagavan knowingly read the contents of the letter: Alas! You who are obtained by the goods of merit, are mindfulness itself. You are the best medicine of existence that destroys decay, suffering, and desire. The words from the Bhagavan are the place to experience the correct wisdom that is closely produced. Bhagavan, you are my nectar, a truly great blessing. Look at it like this. This is not something that a painter can draw.

Having sent his own image painted on cloth, those merchants brought it back again. As soon as Pearl Vine saw it, he immediately experienced the meditation that arose from it, as if it were the same meditation experience, and thus knew the nature of nectar such as taking refuge in the Three Jewels, the five precepts, dependent origination, the Noble Eightfold Path, and actually enjoyed the fruit of entering the stream. Therefore, the true Dharma speech related to all the causes and effects of the Three Jewels is also like a letter that all beings should listen to, and because it is the antidote that makes the face of the demoness transformed from the afflictions and discriminations of worldly nature wither, it is praised as a tangible ornament. Those with supreme wisdom, the treasure that accomplishes merits, if one can be firmly steadfast, then the clamor of self-generated waves, although this does not appear beautiful, it is worth listening to because it relies on the exposition of the true Dharma. Such is the exhortation: Thus, the Sutra and Tantra teachings, like an ocean, taught by the great sages of supreme wisdom with five perfections, and the treatises that are bound by the five great vows of the noble ones, and determined by the four limbs of cause and effect, which are firm, profound, and difficult to fathom, rely on these, the Buddha's teachings can last long in the world. As Maitreya said: All dharmas are both Sutra and Treatise, well spoken and those who explain its meaning, by this power, Shakya's teachings, in this world realm, will last long. Like that. Although there are such Sutras and Treatises, the truth of Dharma nature has not been seen, the blessings of the supreme deity have not been given, and the place of knowledge has not been studied, that is, those who do not have the three causes, for the self-generated treatises, there are both the two merits of correction and protection, and the three aspects of the inner path are lacking, and there may also be the admixture of the six faults of the outsiders, therefore, like the harmful flowing water in the canyon of a dense forest, the place of doubt about the existence of unpleasant clamorous waves is also recognized as the merit of hearing widely in the ocean of Dharma principles. Teacher Shantideva: Formerly
