And, the particles of attachment to friendliness, are harmful, without joy, and difficult to endure. It is indeed difficult to avoid, and is always deceived by various changes. Thus it is said. That deer-eyed one without self, like a female goose entering the shore, is she grieving under the eaves, lamenting and unable to sleep? Because she is burned by the fire of attachment, the suffering of asceticism is difficult to endure. Thus it is said. Being afflicted by the suffering of being impoverished by desire is: those who are impoverished and poor due to desire, due to hunger and thirst and the hope and doubt of unfulfilled wishes, are completely dominated by others, their bodies and speech barely alive, truly wandering pretas on the earth. As long as one knows the rituals, and does not develop aversion to the faults of desire, then the hope and doubt of unfulfilled wishes bind the world as a natural law. The poor and lowly are extremely distressed by food, clothing, shelter, etc., and on top of being unable to protect their parents, children, and relatives, they endure the suffering of barely keeping their bodies and speech alive with taxes, rents, and wages, and still do not stop doing things that are the opposite of this, as mentioned before: Just as being quickly shattered by a stone, people grieve for suffering, but do not do things again to avoid intense poverty. Thus it is said. Now, in order to show that the basis of all these sufferings is the five aggregates of clinging, the form aggregate is based on a support, the feeling aggregate knows its nature, the perception aggregate makes it continuously connected, the formation aggregate creates the seeds of future suffering, and the consciousness aggregate is the clinging to experiencing suffering. These five aggregates are the source, basis, and container of all sufferings, and are the masters of all causes and effects. Having understood this, one should abandon all karma and afflictions that produce suffering. Thus, form or the perception of form is the basis of all suffering. Feeling distinguishes its nature. Perception continuously connects in a sequential order. Formation creates the seeds of all future suffering. Consciousness clings to everything. As it is said in the Middle Mother Sutra: Subhuti, the five aggregates of clinging are suffering because they are with outflows.
