Therefore, the result of practicing virtuous deeds, obtaining an excellent celestial body, and transforming into a state of leisure and endowment is a treasure trove of supreme merit. As stated in the "Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son": "Completely abandon all eight states of no leisure, having obtained the rare leisure and endowment, having found faith in the Sugata's teachings, the wise ones practice the yoga of wisdom." Furthermore, as stated in the "Mindfulness Sutra": "O Joyful One, whatever good you see and hear is just like that which arises from contemplating leisure and endowment. People should also view all happiness and virtuous qualities as being accomplished." Thus it is said. Secondly, how are the ten endowments complete? In the pure central land, with senses and limbs all complete, and faith in a reliable place, not destroyed by the flower of karmic extremes, the wish-fulfilling tree of human form is truly rare. The Victorious Udumbara flower has come into the world, the lotus of Dharma has blossomed, the garden of teachings, without disappearing, abides, and those who rely on the shade of the holy ones are even fewer. Thus it is said. In the "Sutra of the Twelve Endowments of Leisure and Endowment," it is said: "Having obtained a human body, being born in a sacred land, having complete senses, not having committed evil deeds, and having faith in the Dharma, these five are self-endowments. The Buddha has appeared, the Dharma has been taught, the Dharma abides, others also practice it, and love arises for those who practice the Dharma, these five are other-endowments." As it is said, the five self-endowments depend on oneself, that is, obtaining the basis of the Dharma of gods and humans, the excellent human body, is complete; being born in the central land where the teachings abide is complete; having the basis for hearing and contemplating, having complete senses, is complete; not having committed evil deeds, constantly practicing virtue, is complete; having faith in a reliable place, having faith in the teachings of the Victorious One, is complete. The five other-endowments depend on external conditions, that is, the Buddha having come into the world at this time is other-endowment; turning the three wheels of Dharma, etc., is other-endowment; the teachings not having disappeared and abiding until now is other-endowment; entering into the teachings is also other-endowment; having a guide on the path to liberation, a virtuous spiritual friend to rely on, is also other-endowment. Thus, the eighteen qualities of leisure and endowment

If it is not complete, it cannot become a special support for practicing Dharma, as the Bodhisattvacharyavatara says: When the human body is not obtained, only sins are committed, and there is no virtue at all. When is it that one has the good fortune to practice virtue, but if I do not practice virtue, I will be obscured by ignorance and fall into the suffering of evil destinies, what use will there be at that time? So it is said. Fourth, the reason for its difficulty to obtain: Why is it that one's own accomplished wish-fulfilling tree, and the Udumbara flower accomplished by other causes, the merits of both, with ten kinds of perfections, surrounding the eight freedoms, this is difficult to obtain again. Why is it like the analogy of a blind turtle's neck and a yoke, the number is like the stars divided by day and night of humans and animals, those can be known in order in the hungry ghosts and hells. So it is said. One's own accomplishment is as rare as a wish-fulfilling tree, and the accomplishment by other causes is even rarer, like the Udumbara flower. In the Sutra of Explaining Enlightenment, it is said: To the north of the great lake Anavatapta, there is a mountain called Five Peaks Mountain, and on the other side of it is the Udumbara garden. When the Tathagata Bhagavan descends from the Tushita heaven and enters the mother's womb, that garden will bud. When he is born from the mother's womb, that garden will bloom. When he attains the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and becomes a Buddha, the flowers of that garden will also bloom extremely. When he abandons his life, that garden will age. When he completely enters Nirvana, the leaves, flowers, petals, and fruits of that garden will also wither. So it is said. In the Essence Chapter it is also said: It is difficult for Buddhas to appear in the world, like the example of the Udumbara flower. So it is said. Those two, for the perfect person who has the support of leisure, are called the precious human body. The analogy of its difficulty to obtain, as the Letter to a Friend says: The meaning of a blind turtle floating in a sea, etc., is explained in detail in the Sutra Pitaka itself, such as the monks, in a vast ocean of the world, there is a blind turtle, long-lived and living for a long time, which emerges from the water once every hundred years. In that great sea, there is a yoke.
