Like hungry ghosts suffering from poverty, the torment of burning entrails, and animals devouring each other, hunters setting traps, snares, and nets to bind them, skillfully using weapons to take lives, piercing noses, harming with hooks, binding with ropes, and being unable to bear the suffering of taming, they have no leisure. They cannot even find pus, blood, and other filth. What need is there to speak of the suffering of hungry ghosts due to poverty! The moment they see rivers and trees, they instantly become greedy, and the suffering of burning entrails is endless. Due to the power of obscurations, their lifespan is uncertain. Animals devour each other, hunters set cruel traps to take lives, and they are tormented by being tamed for servitude. What is the use of being born in such a place? This is a summary of the meaning. Furthermore, the gods of the formless realm who prolong their existence with extremely long lives, without the opportunity to feel weary, and the gods who have no consciousness, whose basis for hearing and thinking is interrupted, have no leisure because they develop wrong views at the time of death. Because the gods of the formless realm and those without consciousness live long lives, but their basis for hearing and thinking is interrupted, they have no leisure. Even though the form of two feet is well displayed, their consciousness is not virtuous. Those barbarians who are bound and controlled wander in extremely chaotic forests. It is said that some people, although they appear in the form of humans, are like people in the water and forests, their nature is like animals, they are more clever than animals in sinful ways, and they are barbarians whose minds are controlled. In terms of Dharma, they have become the basis for non-merit, therefore their consciousness has no leisure. The mutes who have broken their vows of the senses, even if they meet the teachers of the noble ones, are like the clamor blocked by stones, unable to communicate, and lament in the vast wilderness. Thus it is taught that those who cannot communicate language because they are verbally mute, or those who cannot communicate meaning because they are mentally mute, even if they are like brothers or friends with the teachers of the noble ones, are like stones and words mixed together, without any meaning, therefore the basis has no leisure. Having obtained the great ship to cross the ocean of samsara, and the waving banner of wisdom, yet again...

Those who are not pleased with (the Buddha), those who hold wrong views are tormented by demons. Some, though with complete faculties and clear minds, are not pleased with the appearance of the Buddha and hold wrong views such as "there is no afterlife," these heretics are without leisure. In an age abandoned by the Buddhas, fallen into a dark abyss, even striving to rise again, they merely follow the wrong path, sinking lower and lower in a miserable fall. Thus it is taught that when the Buddha appears in the world, there is also the light of the teachings, therefore it is called the Age of Light. Its emptiness is the Age of Darkness. In that time, even if one obtains a human body, those who follow the wrong path, like falling into a deep abyss with broken legs, go from bad to worse, without any means of liberation, therefore it is a time without leisure. Secondly, the eight kinds of lack of leisure due to immediate circumstances: In the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel it says, "The five poisons are confused, the foolish and ignorant are seized by demons, the lazy and evil deeds are like a great sea overflowing, controlled by others, fearing threats, pretending to be Dharma, these are the eight kinds of lack of leisure due to immediate circumstances. Not a vessel for the path of liberation, completely reversed." Therefore, merely in appearance, having escaped from the eight places of lack of leisure in one's own continuum, and being born in a land where one can practice the Dharma, but due to the grossness of the five poisons, one's own continuum is connected with non-virtue; due to one's own foolishness and ignorance, being controlled by sinful friends; encountering demonic spiritual friends, leading to reversed views and actions; although there is some interest in the Dharma, being lazy with absolutely no diligence; the sea of evil deeds overflowing, not knowing how to transform it into the path, and being controlled by obstacles; although there is faith in the Dharma, body and speech being controlled by others; fearing food, clothing, or taxes, even entering the Buddhist order, spending time with non-Dharmic conduct; although the mind is contrary to the Dharma, pretending to be a practitioner in front of others, seeking gain and honor. These are all. Thirdly, the eight kinds of lack of leisure of a mind that has cut off boundaries: As mentioned before, bound by vows, conduct is extremely evil, not weary of samsara, having no faith at all, not doing good but doing evil, having no interest in the Dharma, broken vows and commitments, this is called the lack of leisure of a mind that has cut off boundaries.
