Confused by ignorance, like being chronically ill and not relying on a good doctor. Especially for those who are like the only eye on the path to liberation, being able to see and understand the places of the path and non-path, like having a lamp that illuminates the darkness of the nature of the three realms—the three trainings of path, learning, and practice, and having the three vehicles of definitive speech, expression, and vehicle, yet abandoning them, this is a defeat on the battlefield of ignorance. Candra-gomin (ཙནྡྲ་གོ་མི་,梵文:चन्द्रगोमिन्,罗马转写:Candra-gomin) said: “The one eye of all beings, without stain, Is the common lamp of the three realms. Whoever abandons the teaching after finding happiness, Is only tormented by extreme ignorance.” As it is said. Therefore, separating the essence of this treatise and the chapter of vowing to compose it, making the individuals who practice the stages of the path into capable vessels for listening to the Dharma. Now, in order to arrange the actual content of the treatise, generally, all treatises are bound by the five arithmetic beginnings. It can be determined by teaching, explanation, and collection, or it can be explained like a flowing stream. There are six ways of explanation: word explanation, meaning explanation, distinction explanation, extensive explanation, difficult explanation, and story explanation. Because the time for preaching is uncertain, here we mainly adopt extensive explanation, and focus on experiencing the combination of words. Among them, first, the collection of leisure and endowment is arranged in five points: distinguishing the human body, explaining the eight adversities of no leisure, determining the nature of leisure and endowment, explaining the reasons for being difficult to obtain, and summarizing the meaning of this chapter. The first point is: Like this, the wilderness of suffering in samsara is like a container of all faults, a abyss of various births, a place that is as unclean as a large cemetery and emits wailing, obtaining a human body as a basis, not all can become pure vessels of Dharma. As the sutra says: “In the wilderness of samsara, long-time friends, With severed heads and limbs, pain has become a scar, The future pain is hidden and unknowable, Yet still craving the happiness of the heavens.” Therefore, merely dwelling in samsara will bring suffering, all actions are creating evil, completely mixed with the nature of evil, much is done but little is achieved, accompanied by unpleasant sounds, even if enjoyment is obtained, it...

Those who indulge in negligence, engrossed in noise and distraction, with undisciplined and frivolous body, speech, and mind, and who fall into the three lower realms and are inclined towards evil paths, are also seen by the light of the Buddha's compassion, and after a long time, they possess the seed of liberation. Therefore, it is called a precious human body. As it is said in the Letter to a Friend: "Whoever is always turning in the wheel of samsara, and who, having entered into it, thinks that mere rest is happiness, that one will surely, gradually, and without freedom, wander in hundreds, in all equal and unequal realms." Equal refers to gods and humans, and unequal refers to the lower realms. Secondly, in general, wandering in the six realms, and especially from the unfavorable aspects of the leisure and endowments of human existence, and from the discord created by afflictions, suffering, and conceptual thoughts, not giving opportunity for virtuous deeds, wandering in the eight states of no leisure, there is no opportunity to practice Dharma, as it is said: "Confused thoughts will also fall from here again, the three lower realms and the gods without perception, border regions, incomplete faculties, wrong views, wandering in places where no Buddha appears." Thus it is said. From the perspective of nomenclature, the eight states of no leisure of one's own continuum, the eight states of no leisure due to sudden circumstances, and the eight states of no leisure of severed categories. First, what is actually taught is, in the Letter to a Friend it says: "Holding wrong views and animals, ghosts and hell beings, without the Buddha's teachings and border regions, born as barbarians and as fools and mutes, born in any of the long-lived gods, are called the eight faults of no leisure." Among the eight abodes of one's own continuum, the first is hell: "Not even a moment of leisure can be found, on the iron-burning ground, weapons are used to kill, harsh punishments are repeatedly inflicted, hell beings who cannot die even when their lives are taken, are still bound by the net of angry karma." Thus it is said, those who have become hell beings, on the iron-burning ground, are punished only by the killing of weapons, etc., and there is no rest or even a slight opportunity for relaxation from the intense suffering, and they are also bound by the net of anger, and the measure of their lifespan is immeasurable, therefore there is no opportunity to be free as a basis for practicing Dharma.
