It is like having the enjoyment of gods. It is uncertain whether it is experienced briefly or constantly. In the Vinaya Pitaka, it says: After that, Maudgalyayana reached the edge of the ocean and saw many short-lived hell beings, like mortars, like brooms, like trees, suffering from great torment. Like mortars, brooms, sticks, doors, winnows, ropes, stoves, pillars, etc., sometimes or often being used, giving rise to confused consciousness, experiencing suffering, like the story of the butcher of the king's house, whose bones emit a foul odor, being pecked at by crows, etc. Similarly, if the shape of a tree is cut, the appearance of one's own branches being cut off will appear, thereby experiencing the feeling of suffering. As in the Jataka of the Noble Sangha Protector, when the Gandi is struck in a room with divided ears, a room with a net, five hundred images of Sravakas immediately gather. One cuts off the head of another with a sword, and the sight of returning in the time it takes to hold an umbrella, etc., is inconceivable. Maudgalyayana said: There is no happiness in samsara, all beings are like a flash in the pan, each tormented by their own suffering, like being in a burning flame. In general, the types of hell realms are summarized into eighteen categories with a definite number, which is widely known in the treatises. In addition, in the Akasagarbha Sutra, when describing the cycle of Avici hell, it says: Breaking the precepts, and the karma of accepting offerings from faithful patrons, will also enter into the small hells. There are cold shivering hells, dark hells, extremely hot hells, bristling hair hells, wheel of swords hells, fire रथ (Sanskrit Devanagari: अग्नि रथ, Sanskrit Romanization: agni ratha, Chinese literal meaning: fire रथ), mud of feces, hot springs, rivers of fire embers, forests of sword leaves, iron wheels, mountains of iron pillars, iron beds, iron wheels, iron caves, iron hammers, continuous gathering and destruction, boiling copper pots, etc., as said in the scriptures.

All that was said is complete. Like that, those hells and sinners, relying only on the interval of breathing in and out, have no other way to stop, but those who do not know fear of such suffering are truly of vajra nature! This shows that it is too much. Similarly, seeing a picture of hell, or hearing it told by others, or remembering past experiences, or reading scriptures that say, "The suffering of hell is like this," or making an image of hell in clay, etc., will also generate great fear. If one directly experiences the ripening result, what need is there to say more? This is to encourage the generation of renunciation. The Suhrllekha (བཤེས་སྤྲིང་) says: "The brief interval of a sinner's breathing in and out is the interruption of hell's suffering. After hearing of that immeasurable suffering, one is fearless, that is the nature of vajra! Seeing, hearing a picture of hell, or remembering, reading, or making an image of hell, will still generate fear, then what need is there to say about personally experiencing that unbearable result?" Here, the other two lower realms are only briefly mentioned, this is to experience the combination of words, because it has already been taught in the category of places where there is no leisure, so it is not repeated. Because many words and few meanings are unfavorable aspects of treatises. Even so, like the Suhrllekha (བཤེས་པའི་ཕྲིན་ཡིག་), it is not contradictory to show each nature according to its own situation. Therefore, the thirty-six categories of pretas, those who dwell in the base, and the two categories who wander in the sky, in general, the suffering of the pretas who dwell in the base is: That sutra says: "In the pretas also, due to the lack of desire, the suffering that arises is continuous and cannot be changed. Hunger, thirst, cold, heat, fatigue, and fear, the suffering that arises is extremely unbearable, it should be proclaimed." Because the desires that torment the mind due to hunger, etc., can never be satisfied, it is continuous. Because they are always searching for food and drink, they are exhausted from running. Seeing people holding swords, clubs, and ropes, they appear as executioners, so they feel fear. The special suffering is: those with inner obscurations, their stomachs are as big as Mount Sumeru (རི་རབ།, Sanskrit: Sumeru), but their mouths are as small as needle eyes, their appearance is ugly. Seeing food and drink, either it is guarded by others, or as soon as they approach, it turns into
