Sashing Za. It is taught that the Blister Hell is so extremely cold that the body is filled with blisters. Similarly, the blisters burst and become wounds. After becoming wounds, they continuously emit "Achu" groans. They only let out long sighs of "Kyi hud (Tibetan, Devanagari: ki hud, Romanized Sanskrit: ki hud, Literal Chinese meaning: Alas)," and their voices become hoarse. Even then, they cannot utter a sound, and their teeth chatter. Creatures born from those wounds peck with weapon-like beaks, causing the skin to split into six sections like an Utpala (Tibetan, Devanagari: utpala, Romanized Sanskrit: utpala, Literal Chinese meaning: Utpala). Like a lotus, it splits into eight sections. Like a great lotus, it doubles and triples, splitting into countless pieces, from which pus, fat, and marrow flow. In a letter to a student, it says: The unparalleled wind seeps even into the bones, the body curls up, shivering and stiff like wood. From the bursting of a hundred blisters, creatures are born, pecking with swords, causing pus, blood, and marrow to flow. Teeth clench, hair and down are scattered, eyes, ears, and armpits are harmed, causing all to suffer. The space between body and mind is completely confused, dwelling in the cold hell, crying out in extreme agony. Regarding this, the Chinese commentary says: The Blister Hell is "ltags pa (Tibetan, Devanagari: ltags pa, Romanized Sanskrit: ltags pa, Literal Chinese meaning: omitted)," which is three and a half feet. The bursting of blisters is "brdol ba (Tibetan, Devanagari: brdol ba, Romanized Sanskrit: brdol ba, Literal Chinese meaning: bursting)," which is two and a half feet. Teeth chattering is "kos thag (Tibetan, Devanagari: kos thag, Romanized Sanskrit: kos thag, Literal Chinese meaning: leather strap)," which is one verse. Although it is not explained like this, the three aspects, such as splitting like an Utpala (Tibetan, Devanagari: utpala, Romanized Sanskrit: utpala, Literal Chinese meaning: Utpala), are shown to arise from creatures pecking with their beaks. The complete confusion between body and mind leads to the uncomfortable sigh of "Kyi hud (Tibetan, Devanagari: ki hud, Romanized Sanskrit: ki hud, Literal Chinese meaning: Alas)," and the cry of agony implies the utterance of "Achu," which should be understood. The duration of their lifespan is stated in the Mindfulness Sutra: For example, if a container that can hold twenty measures of sesame seeds, measured by the Kosala city measure, is completely filled with sesame seeds without any gaps, and from the Blister Hell, one sesame seed is removed every hundred years, when all the sesame seeds are exhausted, it can be assumed that the beings in the Blister Hell have ended their lives. Other hells are twenty times worse than this, and they must endure even greater suffering. The term "bsgres pa (Tibetan, Devanagari: bsgres pa, Romanized Sanskrit: bsgres pa, Literal Chinese meaning: increase)" means multiplication. Explaining the duration of life with such certainty is the view of the Hinayana.

Regarding hells, in the view of the Mahayana, the bodhisattva Gyad Bagshita, who was a chariot driver in hell, out of compassion for his friend, made the aspiration, "Put this rope on my neck as well," because he could bear the suffering of others. The hell guardian, angered, struck his head with an iron hammer, causing him to die suddenly. Similarly, like the daughter of the caravan leader's friend, it is uncertain whether a strong antidote will arise in the continuum. Furthermore, for those who despise the Vajra Master and abandon the Dharma, etc., it is possible that they will not transfer for many great kalpas. Some sentient beings with strong karmic obscurations will not die even from experiencing such intense suffering. The "Friendly Letter" states: "Such suffering is extremely unbearable, experienced hundreds of thousands of times, but as long as the non-virtue is not exhausted, they will not die, and only then will they be freed from that suffering." Now, to explain the ephemeral hells. Being wrapped in red-hot coal heaps, in houses without doors, doors, pillars, stoves, and ropes, etc., in the self-nature of various karmic manifestations, one experiences endless suffering. Ephemeral hells refer to uncertain places such as mountains, rocks, water, trees, fire, and the sky, where the lifespan and suffering are also uncertain. They may be many gathered together, or existing alone, or existing in small amounts. Because of suffering from any kind of suffering such as cold, hunger, thirst, cutting, chopping, beating, fighting, cooking, etc., one cannot bear it, therefore they are called ephemeral hells. They include being squeezed in rocks, dwelling in cliffs and hard stone crevices, freezing and stiffening in ice and snow, being boiled in hot springs, being burned in flames, being stuffed in the hollows of trees and leaves, drifting in the sky, and day and night, half a day or a moment, or constantly, enduring suffering due to karma, and having inverted and confused perceptions of suffering, and so on. Among them, an example of experiencing suffering day and night is: In the Vinaya Pitaka, it is recorded that in the city of Grāvastu, the venerable Kātyāyana advised a butcher to give up killing. The butcher accepted the precept of not killing at night. However, due to past non-virtuous karma, he was reborn in an ephemeral hell, suffering during the day, and at night...
