Being seized and taken as one's own, and bestowing gifts upon prostitutes, etc., whether adorned with marks or not, are protected by place and time in the same way. Similarity refers to all objects that are not to be engaged in sexual activity, i.e., everything other than the root. The commentary on the Abhidharmakosha states, "The limb's root, one's own effort, and so forth." The teacher Ashvaghosa said, "What is called 'not to be engaged in sexual activity' refers to those possessed by others, possessing the banner of Dharma, protected by lineage or protected by the king, prostitutes taken by others, and those who have relations with relatives, etc. These are objects not to be engaged in sexual activity." Therefore, explaining from the perspective of something other than a limb indicates that the Indian treatises are consistent in meaning, but differ only in the way names are established. Here, actions of body and speech are tangible, so it goes without saying that doing them oneself is significant. Participating in the deliberation of another's actions, even if the intention is the same, is no different from the actor. The Abhidharmakosha states, "For the sake of a single purpose, such as war, all possess the same status as the actor." Even so, there is no fault for those who are insane, mentally disturbed, or tormented by feelings. Similarly, if the four—basis, intention, action, and ultimate result—are not complete, then the action is not ultimate, and this principle applies to all situations. The four of speech are: lying to confuse others, deceiving others by distorting similar perceptions, slander that separates friends or neutrals, repeating accusations with similar faults to create hatred, idle talk that generates attachment and aversion from frivolous conversations, similar irrelevant talk about war and bandits, harsh words that pierce the hearts of others, similar providing causes for others' displeasure. The four of speech are also divided into two: those directly stated and those that are similar. The directly stated lie is completed by four branches: the basis of speech is not mistaken, holding the intention and view of deceiving others, speaking what is not true, and changing the other's perception. The great scholar Vasubandhu said, "Speaking about a doubtful thing as if it were certain is also entirely lying." What is called 'the basis is not mistaken' means that one is not an Arya (noble being), and similarly does not have clairvoyance, and is not hidden from oneself, but says that one is an Arya, this is the truth.

Speaking untruths directly, writing them down, or expressing them through bodily gestures, leading others to misunderstand and perceive one as a noble being or someone with clairvoyance, thus altering their perception, is exemplified by what is known as the great lie of claiming to be a superior human being. A similar case is knowingly deceiving others with words that feign honesty. Slander is complete with three branches: the basis of division is when individuals are friendly or neutral towards each other, divisive words are spoken, and ultimately, the meaning is understood. There are also similar situations between lying and slander, but the distinction lies in the intention: lying is driven by the intention to deceive, while slander is driven by the intention to create division. A similar aspect is repeating and uttering words of mutual dissatisfaction. Idle talk refers to speech that does not fall into any of the above three categories but is spoken with a mind afflicted by defilements. Even if the ultimate meaning of these three is not understood by others, it still counts as idle talk, as indicated by the commentaries of both the "Friendly Letter" and its commentary. As the monk Chöden Rapjor Yang also said, idle talk is completed by two branches: thinking about things that are not in accordance with the Dharma and uttering idle talk. Therefore, all idle talk that considers things not in accordance with the Dharma as Dharma is included. For example, offerings and generosity, poetry and so on, the secret mantras of Brahmins, songs of attachment, theatrical lines, the words of prostitutes, and treatises that contradict the Dharma, such as the five foundations praised in ancient India. In short, all jokes or random utterances that become a source of attachment and aversion are included. A similar aspect is speaking of war and thieves, etc., with utterances unrelated to the time. Harsh speech is completed by three branches: the basis is specifically targeting someone, the action is speaking harsh words, and ultimately, making the other person unhappy. A similar aspect is applying sweet words to situations that are unpleasant in meaning. The three mental sins, first, is covetousness: coveting the wealth and glory of others and wanting to possess it. A similar aspect is craving and enjoying the possessions of others. Harmful intent is being resentful towards others and inciting harm. A similar aspect is contemplating separation and division from those who are helpful.
