Just as when the Tāyi tree bears fruit, each branch can grow to the height of a fathom, the manifestation and growth of good and evil cannot be compared. Like this, the maturation of good and evil, for external cause and effect, even the fastest growing Aśvattha tree cannot compare to even a fraction of it. For a small cause, one can also generate endless fruits, this is the growth of the internal cause and effect of good and evil. King, listen to me, In a previous life, throwing a handful of beans at the Buddha Vipashyin (Tibetan: སངས་རྒྱས་རྣམ་གཟིགས།), four fell into the begging bowl, and two hit the chest, therefore obtaining the result of becoming a golden wheel-turning king ruling over the four continents. In sequence, he also became one of the Four Great Kings, and the lord of the Thirty-three Heavens, possessing the power to sit in half a seat with Indra. Shariputra (Tibetan: ཤཱ་རིའི་བུ།) offered a piece of cloth and thread to a Pratyekabuddha, therefore obtaining vast, sharp, and profound wisdom, becoming the foremost in wisdom among the Shravaka disciples. A cowherd repaired the elephant-shaped decoration on the base of a stupa, therefore enjoying the wealth of elephants in all lifetimes. The venerable Katyayana (Tibetan: ཀཱ་ཏྱ་ཡ་ན་) received a bowl of water offered by an old woman, therefore being reborn as a deva. Furthermore, even the root of virtue of scattering ashes on the Tathagata with a faithful mind can also experience happiness for countless kalpas. Throwing a flower at the Buddha, or respectfully folding hands towards a stupa, can also lead to rebirth as countless Chakravartin kings. As it is said in the scriptures: Do not despise small virtuous deeds, thinking they are useless. Even small drops of water, when accumulated, can gradually fill a large container. Similarly, there are also examples of the growth of non-virtuous deeds. During the teachings of the Buddha Kashyapa (Tibetan: སངས་རྒྱས་འོད་སྲུང), a monk spoke harsh words to a fellow monk, saying some unclean things, as a result, lice grew on his monastic robe. There are also the stories of Golden God, Golden Staff, and the Elephant Herder recorded in the Damamūka-nidāna, and the stories of Good Protector and his wooden staff recorded in the Vinaya.

Just like the story of five hundred frogs, ducks, fish, turtles, five hundred hungry ghosts, a farmer, and five hundred cows. As it is said: Even for small sins, do not despise them, thinking they are harmless. Even a tiny spark can burn a pile of grass as big as a mountain. In general, the Great Vehicle and the Small Vehicle have large and small causes and effects. Although the Small Vehicle's causes and effects are small, in the past, A nun called other nuns "bitch," and just because of that tiny verbal misdeed, she was reborn as a dog five hundred times. The Great Vehicle has great causes and effects. As it says in the Bodhicharyavatara: If someone generates evil thoughts towards such a prince benefactor, the Buddha said that for as many times as evil thoughts are generated, one will dwell in hell for that many eons. This means that defaming the Dharma and special individuals of the Great Vehicle, and generating evil thoughts, etc., even a small downfall of a Bodhisattva will cause suffering for many eons. In general, these karmas also show that the good or bad motivation of the doer is the key to power. If there is no doer, it is not self-nature. The motivation dyed with black and white dyes makes the karma and its fruit have great power. If preparation and follow-up are lacking, the power is small. In this way, the ripening of good and bad deeds, whether heavy or light, depends entirely on the intention. If the intention is driven by strong afflictions, even if a small sin is not committed, one will experience great ripening. Moreover, in the preparatory stage, there is also no long-term focus and accumulation for that purpose. Afterwards, if one is overwhelmed by strong remorse, then the power of the sinful deeds that have been done is small. Similarly, for all Buddhists, the correct view is to believe that there is a future life, and for those who do not trust in the certain and never-deceiving cause and effect of karma, even if they listen, contemplate, meditate, and perform virtuous deeds such as giving, due to the wrong view of not believing in cause and effect, it will lead to completely reversed ripening. As it says in the Letter to a Friend: If you want to attain heaven and liberation, you should get used to the correct view.
