Sounds arise in different ways, each thinking that the Buddha has shown it to me. Thus it is. Therefore, the reason for determining the meaning is this: speech sounds and words do not exist inherently, but arise from the combination of the disciple's aspiration, the Buddha's blessing, and the timely gathering of three conditions, and become clear in the consciousness of the individual. In the Sutra of Inconceivable Secrets, "O Peaceful Intelligence, when the Bhagavan said to Kaundinya, 'The eye is impermanent,' those who were tamed by suffering heard, 'The eye is suffering.' Those who were tamed by selflessness heard, 'The eye is selfless.' Those who were tamed by emptiness heard, 'The eye is emptiness.' Those who were tamed by peace heard, 'The eye is peace.' Those who were tamed by solitude heard, 'The eye is solitude.' Those who were tamed by impermanence heard, 'The eye is impermanent.'" Like that. Therefore, the ultimate determined meaning is that if the Buddha-nature is the Dharmakaya, then speech sounds and words dwelling in letters should not be regarded as inherently existent. In the Ratnakuta Sutra, "O Peaceful Intelligence, from the night he attained complete enlightenment until the night he passed into nirvana, I have not taught even a single word of Dharma." If one can understand the essence of this statement, the eye of wisdom will be broadened towards the source and nature of the Dharma, like an ocean of the Buddha's words and treatises. As the Uttaratantra Shastra says: Just as the sound of a lute arises from the consciousness of another, without conceptualization and without fabrication, so too is the speech of the Tathagata, arising from the consciousness of another, not dwelling within or without. One should understand its meaning. If so, in the Intermediate Mother Sutra it says: Alas! In Jambudvipa, the second turning of the wheel of Dharma will occur. And in the Seven Hundred Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra it says: Repeating three times, the wheel of Dharma was turned in twelve aspects. If someone asks, are these contradictory? For those with gradual intelligence, it seems that the three turnings of the wheel were taught in sequence, and there is no contradiction. For those with simultaneous intelligence, it seems that it was shown in the instant of the completion of the action.

In the Sutra of Arrayed Merits, it says: "Although I have not spoken anything, I appear pervasive to sentient beings. Whenever they gradually desire manifestation, it is the same for all of them. When entering into a single moment, the complete array of Dharmas appears. The greatness of speech that fulfills all wishes is just that." So it is. Even if it is so, in the Definitive Explanation of Intentions, it says: "Because different Dharmas are spoken, but different places and different times are not explained." If there is doubt that this harms the sequential teaching, it is because even within a single category of Dharma, various different classifications are mentioned. This refers to teachings given without interruption by different times and places. It does not mean that other categories of Dharma were not taught at other times and places, so it is not that it was not shown in the ultimate sense, but that it was shown in the conventional sense. There is no need to stick out the "Kunlun" tongue either, as it is also said in the Revelation of Intentions: "Without conception and without confusion, the one pleasing Vajra speech, according to the inclinations of those to be tamed, transforms into many distinctions." Although it is like that, in the common appearance, the sixty branches of the qualities of the speech of the Nirmanakaya of the Buddha are complete. If we follow after the teaching of the secret, inconceivable meaning in the Twenty Thousand Verses, then, in order to closely show the roots of virtue of sentient beings' realms, the speech is gentle; in order to touch happiness in this very life, the speech is mild; in order to have good meaning, the speech is pleasing; in order to have good letters, the speech is agreeable; in order to arise from the unsurpassed path that transcends the world, the speech is pure; in order to be free from all the habitual imprints of the latent tendencies of afflictions, the speech is immaculate; in order to have words and letters that are very famous, the speech is very clear; in order to have the qualities of strength that destroy the views of all the evil-minded heretics, the speech is melodious and pleasing; in order to have the certainty of arising through practice, the speech is worthy of listening to; in order not to be overcome by all the opponents of others, the speech is invincible; in order to make all happy, the speech is pleasant; in order to be the antidote to desire and so on, the speech is subdued; in order to have the easy means of establishing precepts, the speech is not harsh; in order to have the true means of definite arising
