Each side of the palace is 250 yojanas, with names: in the east, Dhṛtarāṣṭra; in the south, Virūḍhaka; in the west, Virūpākṣa; and in the north, Vaiśravaṇa. Each has four great divisional lords. The eastern side is surrounded by gandharvas, the southern side by kumbhāṇḍas, the western side by nāgas, and the northern side by yakṣa races. Wealth, enjoyment, gardens, and so on are immeasurable. When half of Mount Meru is level with the peak of Yugandhara, the cities of the gods of the sun, moon, planets, and stars are like containers, complete with gardens. The sun's mandala is 51 yojanas, and its circumference is three times that. The lower base is made of fire crystal, so it is extremely hot and blazing with light. The moon's mandala is 50 yojanas, and its circumference is three times that. The lower base is made of water crystal, so it is cool and white in color. The height of both is six and a half yojanas, plus one-eighteenth of a yojana, located above. The area above the sun is well surrounded by a golden fence, and the moon by a silver fence, possessing excellent qualities such as the four precious jewels. Within these two are the sun god's son and the moon's city, made of the four precious jewels, filled with many gods and goddesses, causing joy. The stars are made of water crystal, and the upper part is surrounded by a golden fence. The ground and roads are good, complete with the cities of the gods. The eaves and gables are made of various precious jewels, and adorned with nets of jewels and hanging ornaments. That magnificent palace has eight balconies, each with seven stories, and each of those with seven dwellings. Surrounding it is a beautiful city, in which everything is beautifully shaped and true to its name, decorated with one hundred and one colors, soft when pressed down, expanding when lifted up, and as soft as cotton. Each gate has five hundred armed guardian deities. Outside the city are seven layers of precious jewel walls, and between the walls are moats, also adorned with swan-filled lakes. On the four peaks of the mountain king, in the pavilions reside the yaksha deities called Vajrapani. Twenty yojanas from the beautiful city are four pleasure gardens of the gods.
