Therefore, one will also receive the corresponding result. Similarly: Do not be angry, do not speak harshly, do not be dissolute, do not do reckless things, do not speak words that are improper, unreasonable, and without shame. Also, it is said in the 'Holy Adornment Sutra': To satisfy one's mind with harsh words will cause one to fall into hell for a thousand kalpas. If one makes reckless comments on the profound secret teachings of the Vajra Master, one will fall into the Avici Hell. Furthermore, it is said in the 'Universal Equality Secret Tantra': If one thinks of oneself as more superior than the supreme Guru and speaks of this thought, one will fall into hell for countless kalpas. Not to mention speaking ill of others behind their backs. Even if it is just a joke, there are many reasons for the derangement of interdependence. For the time being, let us quote from the 'Secret Game': Whoever gossips and ridicules others behind their backs will be burned in the Vajra Hell. Even in jest, do not insult others, and strictly guard against the faults of speech. Like this, towards the holy ones, initially, one shows great respect and offerings as if to a new guest, but soon after, one becomes bored due to prolonged association, or becomes disrespectful due to excessive familiarity. This is because one has not obtained nor seen even a fraction of the Guru's qualities of abandonment and realization, and there is no sign of having received even a single blessing. This is because of the ignorance that sees the Guru as being the same as oneself. This is like a person who throws away a wish-fulfilling jewel as if it were a pebble. For such a person, the karmic connection for liberation will disappear from the presence of the virtuous friend. As it is said in the present Samadhi of the Manifest Buddha: If one harbors discontent, contempt, or hatred towards the Dharma speaker, or does not generate the thought of seeing the Guru as the Buddha, then one will not be able to obtain those qualities. The Dharma that has not been obtained cannot be obtained, and the Dharma that has already been obtained will be lost. Because of disrespect, it will be lost. Therefore, those with wisdom should be cautious in these matters. Just as in this world, the people who are controlled by the lord of sinful deeds are like hungry vultures seeing the sky. The senses are tense, the actions are cautious, and the breath is unrelaxed. Therefore, in the presence of the Guru, one should serve with respect and reverence, with fear, and with careful consideration.

To abide thus is the cause of attaining immeasurable merit and transcending suffering, as it is said in the words of the monastery sent to the Lama: Vigilance is the abode of immortality, negligence is the abode of death. The vigilant do not die, the negligent always die. The wise, through reason, understand these differences, therefore they are endowed with vigilance. To rejoice greatly in the vigilant is the realm of the noble ones, a place of joy. Steadfastness, accomplishment, ease, and the unsurpassed, are touching Nirvana. As it is said, just as a newly ordained monk fears falling, one should abandon all causes of blame from others, such as adornments, finery, weapons, etc., and abide as if imposing punishment on oneself, as it is said in the Gongdü: The conduct of a newly ordained monk, actions such as adornments, finery, and weapons should be abandoned. A wise and respectful person, imposing punishment on oneself, should abandon the grounds for others' blame. Thus it is said. In the Noble Jewel Cloud Sutra, it is said: In any place where a Dharma speaker resides, one should generate the perception of a stupa, and generate the perception of the Dharma speaker as a Lama, a virtuous friend, and a teacher, and upon seeing them, generate joy and delight. Thus it is said. Not associating with those without faith: One should not befriend those who curse and hate the Lama, and one should avoid associating with them. If one speaks carelessly, the control of sin will be greater, and one will become a violator of vows. Even if one is without fault, if one associates with and becomes close to those who slander and have wrong views of the Lama, that person is of wrong view, a precursor to a precipice, a gravedigger for bad destinies, therefore one should abandon them as it is said in the General Sutra: Those who slander with wrong views are precursors to jumping off a cliff, and are not fit to be the object of loving-kindness. Thus it is said. If one has the means and ability to reverse that person's lack of faith, then it is also possible to cut off the continuation of that person's non-merit, just as when King Ajatashatru was threatened by war by the small kingdoms, his mother, Queen Vaidehi, said: You have done non-meritorious deeds to the Tathagata, therefore this has happened. Like this, exposing his faults. If someone regards a virtuous friend as an enemy and opponent, then
