When all three conditions are met, if the action continues uninterrupted, then one has committed a complete root downfall. If the time is not interrupted, or if any one of the three dharmas is incomplete, then the branch of the action is incomplete, becoming a coarse offense. Therefore, know the root and branches, do not abandon them in your mind, nor discard them with your body. Divide the day and night into six periods, and within each period, examine whether the faults of the fourteen root downfalls have occurred. If you have committed them, generate regret and seek remedies. If you have not committed them, cultivate joy and dedicate the merit. Whether you have committed them before or not, in the future, even if your life is at stake, firmly maintain the vow not to commit them. Whenever you become ignorant of the practice of examining within any of the six periods, then what is called a coarse offense arises. If all six periods pass, it becomes six coarse offenses. If remedies are not completed within that day, then when the first light of dawn appears on the following day, it is said to become twelve coarse offenses. The branch vows are also explained in the same way. First, regarding the vows that are cherished above all in the unsurpassed general tantra, examine the fourteen root downfalls in detail as follows: First, having received empowerment from a master, what need is there to mention others, even if one explains a single verse of tantra, or transmits the three profound pith instructions of the path, yet one despises the service and respect that are connected by dharma, then one will not attain the siddhis of mantra. Second, transgressing the boundaries of the three vows and the objects of training, as well as the limits of what the Sugata has permitted and prohibited. Similarly, regarding a qualified master, disregarding the time and place, and rejecting his instructions. Third, regarding vajra brothers who are mixed in the same mandala of empowerment, even if one intentionally excludes them out of contempt, since limitless beings are brothers of the Tathagatagarbha, it is the same for vajra brothers who are near or far. Fourth, regarding a sentient being with coarse behavior, seeing them tormented by karma in this very life, yet cultivating joy and abandoning loving-kindness, if it is extremely heavy for bodhichitta, then what need is there to mention wishing others to be separated from happiness? Fifth, regarding the bodhichitta that seeks the benefit of others, as soon as it is abandoned, in order to abandon the aspirational mind, one has committed a complete root downfall. Discharging semen outside of the seven permitted occasions. Sixth, considering the three vehicles

Saying that this is fabricated and not spoken by Shakyamuni Buddha; not regarding other treatises that can be the cause of activities and achievements, as well as subsequent blessings, as the Buddha's words and despising them; seventh, not performing the initiation ritual, being afraid of profound Dharma due to incomplete damage and bad vessels; in the period of taming, in terms of the place and kalpa, proclaiming the meaning and view of profound secret mantras; although it is a special case, even subsequent recitations, the object of secret proclamation here must observe the vessel; eighth, not understanding the five aggregates of form, name, etc., and the twelve sources as the body of the deity; with the discriminating mind that proves suffering is real, tormenting oneself even more with contempt and the power of asceticism; ninth, the meaning of emptiness of self-nature, other than the realm of activity of the Buddhas alone, for the implicit meaning related to the realm of sentient beings, one should abandon the entanglement due to doubt; tenth, slandering the Three Jewels and the Guru, being patient and tolerant towards the objects of manifest actions such as destroying the Dharma, and showing love after getting close and befriending them; eleventh, measuring the nameless Dharma with measurement, just as the selflessness of Dharma contradicts consciousness and things, with the mind of clinging to the view that aggregates etc. are empty, measuring the doctrine of non-origination with speculation; twelfth, for those who can be vessels of mantras, or those who have the three faiths but do not teach the Dharma of pursuing meaning, making others unhappy with bad intentions, thereby reversing their wishes; thirteenth, regarding the objects of vows to be used as one's own continuum, thereby abandoning some and craving for others, the behavior of mantras is not as it is, not comprehending and wandering in the middle of the two extremes; fourteenth, Yoginis and other transcendent beings, Buddhamatrika Dakinis etc. guarding vows, regarding the realms of the five great elements as one's own continuum, slandering women as the basis of initiation; among the fourteen branches, belonging to abandoning the training, although not a defeat, but for obtaining achievements, there are eight major gross sins, that is, without being tamed by initiation and samaya vows, relying on ordinary women as vidyas; taking nectar from the well of memory that contradicts the characteristics with unlawful behavior; showing Buddha statues, scriptures, instruments, and mudras to those who have not received initiation, especially those who have no faith; at the time of the Tsokhorlo, fighting and frivolous jokes make the behavior inferior
