. With sins manifested, dark vines entwine, Those who fear entering the inescapable hell, Never give anger a chance to arise. The source of harm is like thorns in the forest, Difficult to tame and growing everywhere. If one tames the perpetrator of hatred and anger, then the asceticism of patience will become my friend. Do the arrows of extremely rough words, Pierce the hearts of sentient beings? By gladly accepting those arrows as the immediate cause, They suffer as if fighting each other as the basis and the based. Here, the cause and effect of harm are boundless, Like sound and echo arising from one's own nature. If not arising from one's own nature, harm has no place to rely on, Therefore, see it as summoned by the actions of one's own past. Upon examination, great harm is not great but greatly beneficial, Because relying on it, one can obtain the raft of patience, And can obtain the wish-fulfilling jewel of bodhichitta. Therefore, offer harm as if offering the holy Dharma. If one examines the nature of harm closely, One knows it has no nature, like lines in water. In the moment when conceptual thoughts, angry expressions, and roughness vanish, It is empty and clear like space, with neither gain nor loss. Why, if the asceticism of patience, the three samadhis, are weakened, then the other five perfections, such as generosity, are also, Like a narrow path surrounded by enemies on the outside, Difficult to reach the desired place, one should generate the power of wisdom. With the diligence that does not exceed time, Freely and independently practice all virtuous dharmas, Like swans going to a garden, Entering without abandoning the abyss of laziness. Bewildered by evil deeds, bound by the ropes of distraction, Suppressed by laziness, one also abandons effort. Despising oneself, becoming discouraged, adopting inferior conduct, Such a person is riding on the ship of sin. With the armor of diligence that destroys the four maras, And the diligence of application that travels the path of the ten bhumis, And the diligence of being fearless, unyielding, and without satisfaction, The diligent one accomplishes all the things they wish for. My life has reached the end of the day, The darkness of death approaches with swiftness, If one counts the actions of samsara, they are more numerous than the stars, But they cannot stop my breath. With the diligence that clears away the stains of laziness, Without showing partiality with slow steps, Until reaching the ocean of omniscience, One should not abandon the conduct of swift diligence.
