The Dharma (333) Tree. Do not stray from this to anywhere else. To rest without meditating on anything is a clear indication of the core of the intention of the primordial Buddha Samantabhadra. As it says in the Klong Drugpa: In the mind-essence without permanence or annihilation, the appearance free from good and bad is, the intention free from abandoning and adopting, Samantabhadra I have declared. In the mind-essence without taking or rejecting, the appearance of impartial self-liberation is, the intention of vast expanse, Samantabhadra I have declared. In the mind-essence without sinking or rising, the intention of great equanimity is, the intention of the six aggregates being relaxed, Samantabhadra I have declared. In the mind-essence without fear, the appearance free from hope and fear is, the intention of resting firmly with confidence, Samantabhadra I have declared. Thus. Also, as it says in the Heap of Jewels: This Dharma-nature without a foundation, is most wondrous to rest without seeking. The awareness that goes and comes, is most wondrous to be without end. The wisdom of the great (334) that is primordially present, is most wondrous to be without an antidote. Thus. Also, as it says in the All-Creating: Even the Buddhas of the past, did not seek the Dharma outside of their own minds. They never altered the suchness, they never meditated on conceptualizing samadhi. It is accomplished by the non-conceptualizing of one's own mind. Those who dwell now and those who will come in the future, will also be accomplished by non-conceptual equality. Thus, according to this vehicle, the nature of mind is inherently present as great self-liberation from the very beginning, and by sustaining the continuity of recognizing myself, which is known as awareness, it is faster than other paths to forcibly attain Buddhahood, so generate joy. Incidentally, dispelling doubts and clearing obstacles: Thus, when sustaining the continuity of the reality of the great self-abiding state, if one thinks that the nature of that awareness is emptiness, then, the one who imputes emptiness is the mind. The mind has a support. The reason why one cannot attain Buddhahood with meditation that has a support. As it says in the Lion's Complete Power: By meditating on meditation, one does not see the meaning of Dharma-nature, self-appearing samadhi is free from the side of thought. Dharma-nature free from elaboration is equal to the edge of the sky, there is no grasping or conceptualization of the objects of focus. The Buddha free from the four extremes is self-knowing, the Dharmakaya is beyond the extremes of existence and non-existence. Thus, the obscuration of clinging to emptiness

This explains the method of abandonment for achieving great liberation in conduct. Furthermore, even if one assumes to have understood a way of abiding in the essence that transcends the extremes of existence and non-existence, that very assumption is a formidable obscuration of one's own ground, bound by conceptual understanding. As the Great Garuda says: Any effort to find an end where there is none, is like a bird seeking the edge of the sky; it is not found. No one can alter this truth of not finding. For this knowledge free from elaboration, there is no possibility of an end. Similarly, whatever arises in thought, whether virtuous or non-virtuous, the appearance of forms, or any of the objects of the six senses, one should not deliberately cling to them. However, according to the Mind-Only school of reasoning, merely blocking the appearance of objects of the mind, such as emptiness as non-affirming negation and non-affirming negation, will not lead to Buddhahood. As the All-Creating King says in the tantra: The actions of the All-Creating King are immeasurable. From the appearance of the six objects to the six senses, seeing suffering, one tries to block the senses. Thus, the actions of the All-Creating King are immeasurable, because he does not have the result of being free from arising and ceasing. If that is the case, then isn't failing to distinguish between appearance and the object of appearance close to the tainted true aspect of Mind-Only? For example, when first seeing a mountain, the thought "it is a mountain" inevitably arises in the mind of an ordinary person. But in the second moment, through the power of the mind and mental factors that analyze the nature of the mountain, the conceptual thought of the mountain naturally vanishes without a trace. At that time, although the appearance of the mountain has not ceased, one becomes accustomed to abiding in the nature of reality where there is no grasping. Appearance and liberation are simultaneously purified, and the blending of appearance and mind is the unmistaken path of the Great Perfection of intrinsic nature. As the Vidyadhara Garab Dorje said: (337) At the time of arising, they arise simultaneously, without good or bad. At the time of liberation, they are liberated simultaneously, without good or bad. Therefore, there is no need to purify the defilements of the elements with the labor of acceptance and rejection, and it is far superior to the vows bound by the notion of guarding and transgression, which are accompanied by outflows. Here, the intention of the King of the Great Perfection of Intrinsic Nature, the single essence of the bindu, encompasses all aspects of the means of practice on the path of the perfections and the aspects of wisdom and samadhi, all complete in the King of Supreme Memory, the nature of reality of awareness. In the sutra of special inquiry, it says: Non-grasping is generosity, non-abiding is discipline.
