In order to clearly reveal the nature of the Great Perfection, like unfolding it in the palm of one's hand, I pray that the Dharma lords and dakinis grant their blessings. Among these, there are three ways to impart pith instructions: as a method of imparting pith instructions, as a method of introduction, and as a method of dispelling guests. This belongs to the first category, being a pith instruction method that includes the latter two. For those with sharp faculties and strong potential, they can merge into the primordial ground in this very life; for those with intermediate faculties, they can attain enlightenment in the bardo; for those with lesser faculties, they can be liberated in the pure land of the self-nature Nirmanakaya through three stages. The first part of the general meaning also has two aspects: preliminary and main practice. In the preliminary practices, there will be an introduction to the three kayas, (310) the methods of practicing the four yogas, an introduction to awareness, distinguishing between the three doors of samsara and nirvana, and an introduction to the mind, which is the method of taming the body, speech, and mind. First is the first: the Great Perfection of Self-Nature, which is particularly mentioned in the Root Tantra of Sound Transformation, which is distinguished from the sixty-four hundred thousand shlokas: The order of practicing the three kayas, mainly focusing on the qualities of arising, with the excellence of earth, water, fire, and wind, practicing sound will definitely be accomplished. Although it is said that the four sound yogas should be practiced in this way, it is rarely applied in practice nowadays, so it is okay not to do it. Second, distinguishing between samsara and nirvana has two aspects: outer and inner. First, distinguishing from the outside, as stated in "Instructions to a Son": First, with body, speech, and mind, in order to dispel manifest clinging, one should first begin to practice. Thus, the manner of conduct is stated in the Root Tantra: The body is walking and dwelling, contracting and various illusory wheels, limbs extending and retracting, showing various actions. Manifestly taking with the mind of mindfulness, the actions of the six realms of beings, (311) taking with the mind, acting with the body. As it is said, in order to make the actions of the three doors born of karma and habitual tendencies spontaneously recede and be blocked from the outside, in order to avoid the fault of the seventh root downfall in secret conduct, one must go to a place where there is no human traffic and no visibility, offer a torma to the local deity of that place, and do not engage in pretentious behavior, but carry out activities.

Pray. Now, for the benefit of all sentient beings, separate the three doors of body, speech, and mind from samsara and nirvana. Generate the mind with the intention to never regress into samsara again. Then, strip the body naked. Endure the heat and cold of hell, the hunger and thirst of pretas, the exploitation of animals, the birth, old age, sickness, and death of humans, the battles of asuras, the downfall of gods, etc., imposing these upon oneself and experiencing their various states. Furthermore, there are running, jumping, bending the body, extending and retracting limbs, etc. In short, with every conceivable action, let appearances become aimless. Similarly, to differentiate speech, as it is said in dialectics: Because what is spoken cannot be retracted, the languages of gods, nagas, yakshas (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning), gandharvas, flesh-eating demons, and universal rulers have distinctions of good and bad. In short, the languages of the six realms express the thoughts and intentions of the mind through speech. Thus, utter clamorous sounds, proclaiming various sounds without acceptance or rejection. Regarding the actions of the mind, as the only son of the Buddha said: Joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain, permanence and impermanence, etc., the thoughts of contemplation and behavior, as well as dharma and non-dharma, etc., desire, hatred, and ignorance, virtue and non-virtue, etc., perform various kinds of thoughts and behaviors. As it is said, all the virtuous and non-virtuous thoughts of the three times, past, present, and future, are forcibly evoked, causing the three doors of body, speech, and mind to appear in a state of fatigue, observing and resting in the nature of the satisfied after-awareness. Similarly, as it is said in the After-Death (ritual): Also practice the actions of the Three Jewels. Therefore, again perform the earth-pressing (mudra) samadhi with the lotus posture, radiating light from the urna, wearing the monastic robes in a circular manner, gazing at a distance of an arrow-shot, etc., the peaceful and subdued behaviors. The action of speech is reciting sutras such as the Heart Sutra, as well as rational words and dialectical debates. Similarly, there are wrathful postures, the play of the nine dances, the action of speech uttering sounds like "ru lu" and "hum hum phat phat" (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning), etc., practicing various postures of body and speech. As it is said in the tantras: Mantras and recitations, the sounds of the Dharma, existence and non-existence and appearances, and rational words, speak various kinds of words. Thus it is said. Like this, separate the three doors of body, speech, and mind, and the door
