are absorbed. That is, absorbed into the original state of the Dharmakaya, free from elaboration, and remain equally in whatever state is the refuge of the meaning of reality. The third is to contemplate the benefits: This is the foundation of all Dharmas, and merely by taking refuge, one plants the seed of liberation, stays away from the accumulation of non-virtues, increases virtues, becomes the basis of all vows, becomes the source of all qualities, and temporarily, one is also protected by the gods of the white side, wishes are fulfilled as desired, one is always inseparable from the light of the Three Jewels, one remembers past lives, one is happy in this life and the next, and ultimately one attains the state of Buddhahood (278), etc., with immeasurable benefits. Incidentally, in order for the vows of refuge to remain in the mindstream, the characteristics of the precepts are briefly summarized: Having taken refuge in the Buddha, one should not seek refuge in worldly deities while in samsara, and one should not seek protection from kings, etc., who have the nature of subduing and harming. One should spare no effort to provide unparalleled service to broken images of the Buddha, etc. Having taken refuge in the Dharma, one should abandon even in dreams the thought of harming sentient beings, and one should generate respect even for scraps of paper with writing on them. Having taken refuge in the Sangha, one should not associate with people who have perverse views and conduct, or with those who possess materialistic things of non-Buddhists, nor should one trample on yellow scraps of monastic robes. In short, in this supreme secret vehicle, the main object of refuge is the Lama, and the Lama's mind is the Buddha, his speech is the Dharma, and his body is the Sangha, so if one reviles him, it is equivalent to abandoning all objects of refuge. The key to refuge, the foundation of all Dharmas, should be taken seriously. Secondly, the root of the Great Vehicle is the instruction on the generation of Bodhicitta (279), which is divided into three points: training the mind with the four immeasurables, generating Bodhicitta, and upholding the precepts of aspiration and practice. First, in the first part, practicing equanimity: What is it? The current situation is that one is very attached to one's own side, such as parents and relatives, and one has unbearable hatred for enemies and their side, which is also a fault of not examining. In this way, in previous lives, enemies have also been friends, and friends have also been enemies, there is no doubt about that. Even now, even if one regards an enemy as an enemy,

Especially, there is no reason to say that it can always harm oneself. If one knows how to get along, it may also be beneficial like a friend. Even relatives, like sons deceiving their parents, collude with enemies and take their side, robbing property, arguing, fighting, etc., will become apparent. If it seems very friendly on the surface, but when the other party is unhappy, it will also bring suffering to oneself, destroy temporary happiness, and ultimately create huge obstacles to virtuous deeds, even throwing oneself into the lower realms (280), what could be worse than that? In the future, enemies may turn into friends, and friends may turn into enemies, which is uncertain. Why be crazy? Like this, starting from one or two beings, gradually, observe as widely as the sky, and strive to practice equanimity, free from attachment and aversion to near and far, Then, cultivate loving-kindness: consider all beings as the object, just as parents cherish their young children, tolerating their wrongdoings, with a strong desire to connect these beings with happiness and auspicious glory, cultivate loving-kindness, thinking about what methods can be used to help them. Then, cultivate compassion: imagine a criminal imprisoned, eventually facing death, or an animal waiting to be slaughtered in a slaughterhouse, etc., a being tormented by intense suffering. Generate the feeling of love like a mother towards her child, thinking how wonderful it would be if they could be liberated from this suffering immediately and quickly, cultivate unbearable compassion, even shedding tears (281). Then, gradually, meditate on the other lower realms, and all the actions that lead to birth there, and finally abide in a state of non-objectification. Then is joy: imagine a being in the heavenly realms, happy, blissful, long-lived, with many attendants, and wealthy. Without generating competition and jealousy towards him, but wishing that he would possess even greater glory, without harm, possessing greater wisdom, etc., possessing more perfections. Thinking how happy I would be if other beings could also attain such a state. In particular, for those who harm oneself, and those who have become objects of jealousy in one's mind
