Indeed, everything is suffering. One should clearly recognize its nature in one's mind and generate renunciation. Then, contemplating the suffering of humans, among the three great fundamental sufferings, the suffering of change is: Now that one has obtained a body in the good realms and seems to be happy, this cannot last forever. During the day or night, or tomorrow, etc., a new suffering will arise in body and mind, and great pain will increase, which is obvious. Suffering upon suffering (257), like a sudden accumulation of dust. For example, the suffering of change is like a Rakshasa suddenly standing up, and on top of that, it is like the king inflicting punishment. The pervasive suffering of conditioned existence is: Now there seem to be many pleasures, such as the perfections of the world, which are only accomplished through non-virtuous actions such as killing. In a garden, one enjoys various games, and in activities such as gambling, one consumes life. At the moment when one's senses are made happy by intoxicating food and drink, all the causes of such enjoyment are purely sinful, so later its result will only be suffering. Similarly, because harming others will naturally result in harm to oneself, all worldly actions are pervaded by suffering, but it is not immediately apparent as suffering, so it is called the pervasive suffering of conditioned existence. Then, contemplating the nature of birth, aging, sickness, and death: Humans are born from the womb, in close proximity to gandharvas, and from the mixture of the parents' sperm and blood, the body is formed through various changes (258) from a vague state. When the senses awaken to their objects, one feels nauseous in the mother's womb, disgusted, contracted, suffocated, and when the mother's food, clothing, and behavior are improper, one feels hot as if staying in a fire, cold as if entering water, as if being pressed down by a mountain, as if falling into a cliff, as if falling on a mat, and when touched by the hand, it feels like being struck with a weapon on a wound, and when bathing, one feels burning heat as if the skin is being peeled off, etc. The suffering of birth is immeasurable. Having been born in this way, in the period before youth, it seems to grow for a while.

I, life is heading towards decline and will not last long, tormented by the suffering of aging, the strength of the body weakens. Even small amounts of things are difficult to bear, food is difficult to digest, vision is blurred, hearing is impaired, the tongue is stiff, memory is dull, teeth fall out, although one likes to enjoy pleasures, there is no ability to enjoy them, neither hot nor cold can be tolerated, and on top of that, one is narrow-minded. In addition, being despised and厌恶by others, most feelings appear as suffering, and one should truly contemplate this. Such a body is also composed of the four elements, and because these (page 259) are unbalanced with each other, namely wind, bile, phlegm, and combination, one is constantly tormented by various diseases. Therefore, the five aggregates of grasping only bring suffering, and even things that once brought joy and sorrow are thus reversed and confused. Because of illness, one thinks that death will come suddenly, and one should contemplate this state of fear well. Then, death arrives, one falls on the bed and cannot get up, even if one sees food and drink, one does not want to eat it, tormented by the feeling of death, the heart is unhappy, physical strength and the power of arrogance are lost, one is troubled by the烦恼of illusion, it is difficult to lift a heavy body. Even if relatives and friends surround one, it cannot be reversed. One alone endures the pain of being cut off from life, even if one has countless wealth, one has no right to take it with one, one cannot let go in thought, and one cannot follow after death. Shaking one's limbs, in a state of blurred vision, one gathers the four elements, consciousness is confused, with gray tears one goes to the next world, the appearance of the bardo arises. At that time, there is no protector, all appearances are frightening, and all feelings (page 260) are used to experience suffering. The cherished body is bound by ropes, trampled by feet, and abandoned in a disgusting cemetery. Even if one has perfect wealth, the time has come to be eaten, and after that, one can only go involuntarily according to karma. Until now, because one has not thought of death, one has worked hard to conquer enemies, protect relatives, and for dwellings and possessions, and has wasted time indulging in the three poisons of greed, hatred, and delusion for the sake of relatives and friends, etc. It is a great pity. Like this, on top of the four, plus the unpleasant appearances brought about by external environments such as enemies
